Ok, so you're implying that wearing a tight T-shirt requires a conscious effort and the sole purpose is to get attention from men. Wouldn't a woman then also have to make a conscious effort to wear a baggy T-shirt in aroder to avoid attention from men? My question is: why should a woman have to consider the way a man will react to her clothing selection before she dresses herself?

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying. You choose how to present yourself so you should take responsibility for what comes of it.

Everyone in the community is responsible for the effect their actions make on it. Women are a major part of the community... in fact you could really say that women are the very base of society. We are the ones who teach the men and women of tomorrow so we influence everything in our society. We are the ones who influence our husband/fathers/brothers at home. If we want men to treat us differently we have to start at home. If we don't want men to judge us on our appearance then we need to make the effort not to flaunt it.

In Saudi where women don't walk around half nude rape is not nearly as rampant as it is here... women are respected, honored and protected...

*barf*

I guess this is why the Saudi religious police stopped a burning building full of schoolgirls from escaping, simply because they were not properly dressed yet.

Go back in, change and then run out - the fire will wait. Ha Ha!

Those idiots were disciplined.

vp, you have a daughter. will your logic extend as far as it being her fault should she, god forbid, ever be raped?

My daughter will not, God willing, find herself in these types of situations.

If she ever was raped I would kill the dog who did it

God forbid your daughter or any woman finds herself in these tyes of situations. But could you define what these tyes of situations are? What if you are sleeping in your own bed at night and someone breaks in? Maybe you "seduced" him without even knowing it as you grocery shopped?

Also I suspect rape is a lot higher in SA than you might think. Just because it is not reported doesn't mean it doesn;t happen.

I just see a big difference between expecting certain consequences because of our choices, and deserving those consequences.

why, if your statement of 90% is her fault?

Her daughter won't do things like wear clothing where you can see a wrist, consort with members of the opposite sex at any time, or um, ever leave the house.

Touche Charles. And I never agree with you. Saudi Arabia is the worse example of being muslim you can find. Can anyone say wahabism?

What about in other Islamic countries? Could it be that rape is underreported? Me thinks so.

No, agreeing that Saudi Arabia is a 'orrible country is like agreeing that a stone thrown off the roof of the Peachtree Westin will hit the ground at a rapid clip. Only when Saudi Arabia actually improves, will it be proof hades is frozen-over.

That's not Saudi Arabia, that's Afghanistan. And she probably deserved it for showing her wrist and tempting men.
