As a USC I often wonder if ppl were allowed more easily to visit this country but measures in place that makes it impossible for them to

get a job, go to any school, or gain healthcare unless its for accidents, gunshots, heart attack, stroke & appendicitis (on emergency level only)

dont U think ppl would not use their last hard earned cash to come here, and would'nt this keep out undocumented folks?, along with this a

national ID system where there would be checks while driving walking riding, just a wonder. The US would save money on schooling & healthcare

for an overwhelming amount of undocumented ppl. I also notice that some ppl who have come in and is now legal would like to close the gate

behind them......

People will always try to come to the US illegally when the opportunities in their home countries are not good and it is better to come to the US illegally. It has less to do with the difficulilties I loin in the US illegally. Rather it is the dire economic and social reasons that motivates people to come to the US. If people had opportunities in their home countries, they probably wouldnt come to the US.

Turning the US into a police state is not a solution. Do you really think it furthers democracy and freedom if you must present a national ID to walk down the street? Will the police be able to check everybody? This bad idea is why so many are against the Arizona law. No American wants to live in a police state like China or Russia.

No one is trying to close the gate behind them. No one is advocating changing the system to make it harder for those behind. New immigrants are asked to go through the same doors as those of us who are already here.

Let's keep this conversation away from illegal immigration. What would you like to see happen with legal immigration? Increase it? Decrease it? Keep it the same? And what would be the results.

People say the legal immigration system is broken because their relatives have to wait (like the rest if us who went ahead) by pointing to illegals. That's ridiculous. Illegals don't cause the long waits in legal immigration. Keep this discussion on legal immigration.

Easy to say the system is broken when your family has to wait. Harder to offer reasonable solutions.

Pardon me for jumping in your reply although it was directed towards someone else. I personally would totally 110% for that idea. It would be a hassle indeed but fairly minor and much less agitating comparing to being hit numerous times by illegal immigrated (sorry but I refuse to use the term "undocumented") and UNINSURED motorists within a short period of time.

Heck, I'm even more than happy to pay more taxes so more police officers can be hired to perform that task. In the long run, it will cost all of us LESS $$$$ than all the damages the illegal aliens have been created.

There's a reason why certain group of people are categorized as "illegal".

End of my rant.

I respectfully disagree. Minorities would be targeted. Current statistics show that non-whites are stopped more often than a white person. I don't want to give a reason for the police to harass someone based solely on skin color. End of my discussion on this.

Once again, I would like an answer to how someone who says that legal immigration is broken would change the legal immigration system.

My prespective is this, what needs to happen is those GC holders who toll the minum line by living in their home country, but hop back and forth to the US to met the bare requirements to hold on to their GC should lose their previliges, this would open up the number of visa available. This would stop those who are using the GC as a key to just hop back and forth between countries from applying.

Those who are using their GC for this purpose are not true supporter of the US economic, they are not contributing to the growth development of a country that has offer them a new life.

When a police officer asks for your ID, he/she is NOT harassing you. And if you have to spend some time pulling out your ID, you can do the same for your immigration ID as well.

When the police force targets the minorities for this ID checking, GOOD! As long as the purpose is to weed out the illegal immigrants, GOOD and VERY GOOD.

When you intend to break the law (immigrate to this country illegally), I don't care you're a minority or whatever. You NEED TO GET OUT!

Checking their immigration IDs won't solve every problem but it certainly would eliminate the smirking smiles from their faces if they create damage to other ppl's private properties (cars) and know there's no consequence for that.

110% agree! There're certain people who do nothing but spend more time abroad than in the US. Then they just come back in the nick of the time just to keep their GC legal status floating.

There's not justification for the rest of us, LPR or USC working long hours to pay taxes to support the country so the above mentioned ppl can enjoy the benefits, how matter small.

THIS would only work, if the mentatilty of those in charge was fair to everyone regardless of the color of there skincolor. But we all know we are not there yet.

Therein lies the problem. By your own words, the police would target minorities.

What about the illegals who are white?????

Must be great to be white.

As a US citizen who happens to be a minority, the police will target me. But the illegal white gets a free pass. Super. Even US citizens who are minorities are below illegal whites.

Let's create a two tier citizenship system. One where whites are top tier citizens who will be treated one way - not a suspect. A bottom tier of citizens who are minorities who will be targeted by the police - suspect.
