Mumbai/Delhi consulate interview tracking

My wife has an interview yesterday 11/26, everything was fine, but they found peeling laminate from her passport and asked her to get a new passport and mail directly to consulate.

does anybody knows if this can be fixed somewhere or i have to apply for a new passport.

any help is appreciated.

U will have to obtain a new passport if they found peeling on ur current passport. But do act fast and try to obtain a new one ASAP. Best option would be to go by Tatkal route. U might get it within a week maximum.

How bad was the peeling ?

U will have to obtain a new passport if they found peeling on ur current passport. But do act fast and try to obtain a new one ASAP. Best option would be to go by Tatkal route. U might get it within a week maximum.

Woow ! guys my passport has small peeling on the edge also. But tell me its acceptable to US Consulate in Mumbai , because getting a new one in India can be a major pain.

little bit, best thing you still have time get it new, I think Reissue of damaged passport is easier then renew. and my wife's interview was in Mumbai.

She is going to Bhopal today to get new passport, will find out how much time they take.

Yes getting new one is better because I found out that peeling could be considered to be attempt to modify something on the passport, so instead of fixing better get a new passport. Like Guptaji said opt for replacement of damaged passport rather than renewal or re-issue.

It is crazy to know that after all the preparation and hassle; things like this could happen to good people when there is so much ####### that some others do and get away with it with no worries.

Its a lesson learned and thank you Guptaji for your post in the forum specifically giving a heads up to all VJ friends about this issue.

My wife went to Bhopal Passport office, they have re-laminated the passport and gave it back same time.

Thats pretty good. But as we all know sarkari depts dont have a standard operating Procedure all over the country. It differs from city to city , state to state. so we're not takin any chances.

i suggest if you have passport office in town try that route first. and she went to PSK not passport office.

AD, try your local PSK and see if they get it fixed same day. if it does then we are tension free and more confident. You still have 3 business days this week itself. I feel so sorry for Guptaji's case and thinking of the few minutes in front of the interviewer that can change our lives to good or worse, 3 days is more than enough to fix things that we can do to make life better.

also fixing yourself comes under tempering in case they find out.

We have come to an end of this months visa schedules and congratulations to all who are approved. My very best wishes to all those who are fighting the 221g and I hope you all get it cleared very soon to start your life with your loved ones by the new year.

All our friends in pink font have updated their profiles of visa approval but there are some that I am not sure if they got approved or their case status at the moment. So please keep us posted.

As you all might know by now that visa disposal is not very prompt so please be aware of all the options you have to track your visa to get it hassle free.
