I got some things cleared so making those changing in this post

Many of VJ friends do post their review and brief on their interview experience but if anyone has some time please get back here to this post and help me with some queries by commenting on the following topics so that many upcoming interviewees can get a clearer picture of the Mumbai consulate interview process. I will try to outline the process in points so if there are more comments or suggestions by approved visa members please add.

1. Be in line by around 6:30am:

At this point just have your interview letter handy for officers to see that you have an interview on that day and whether you are an IV or non-IV candidate.

2. By 7-7:15am you will be placed in your respective IV/non-IV lines (dependant on officers)

This line is going to move forward for security check.I am aware of not having any electronic items, any other advice? It is better not to have any kind of back pack/shoulder bags as it takes longer for security check so rather have all documents in a strong store kind cover bag.

3. Security cleared candidates move forward in 1 line to the VFS counter

Yes, here we keep our packet 4' mentioned required documents ready, especially medical report which is common for all candidates, then recent year (2011) tax return and w2, mostly PCC and if any more docs specific to individual cases.

First, we will give them the documents they ask and my understanding is that at this point they take our passport too, show them the online registration confirmation if asked, then they will ask few preliminary immigration questions, they will give back the original documents that were submitted to NVC and finally give the candidate a token number. Please let us know if there's anything else to be aware of, at this point.

4. With the token number we take a seat till we are called for fingerprinting at any counter

When token number is called we get our fingerprinting done. Some VJers said this is done seperately and some say it is done during the CO interview thats coming up next. Please advice

5. Again be seated and wait for token number to be called for the CO interview

I believe the officer starts with asking the candidate to take the oath that docs produced are true.

I think the officer does not ask for any docs previously submitted to NVC but can ask docs to support or prove any questions asked during interview, right? This is excluding the photo album which is a common proof of relationship.

Candidate is asked to sign DS230 part II. I hope it is the same DS230 part II that was submitted to NVC.

Yes if everything went well the officer will declare "visa approved".

If visa is approved then there is an option of premium service at the consulate where the candidate can pay 300Rs and get the passport at one's residential address instaed of VFS pick up.

So please help other VJ members. Thanks a lot in advance. Anyone can comment and suggest here.

Its very hard to count remaining days till intreview since nothing to do, no action, nowhere to look just wait wait wait

So true Guptaji, but I find comfort here as many of the current Vj members are very kind to update us and post their reviews. i dont think i have prepared for my boards so diligently as much i keep up with visa journey trying to learn and be up to date with the processes and issues some folks have. i hardly get to concentrate on work . The other option is that i am looking out for black friday sales to buy some electronic stuff for my hubby as its his b'day today and so i can have his b'day gift ready when he comes.

I heard from KPATEL she got approved as well, she paid Rs 300 to get passport delevered to her home.

Thanks. I am considering to stay in Sofitel which is very close to the US Consulate. Its pricey comes around 8000 rs a night but considering the fact that its close by and hassle free i am going with Sofitel. and heard very good reviews about it too.

Thanks. I am considering to stay in Sofitel which is very close to the US Consulate. Its pricey comes around 8000 rs a night but considering the fact that its close by and hassle free i am going with Sofitel. and heard very good reviews about it too.

I also booked Sofitel for my wife for 8000 Rs. its near so they can walk to the consulate. book thru agoda.com or hotel.com as when we called hotel directly it was 10,000 rs.

Is she going to opt for the premium service and leave back home after the interview? Then I guess it should be just one night before the interview that she'll stay right? it is always nice for ladies to stay closer to consulate and hassle free.

GOSH! these Sofitel people are such a rip off.... some folks in India think money here in US falls off from trees and they take advantage of other's situation.
