Iran doesn't have any nuclear weapons, nor is it developing any. So your question is kind of like "If Godzilla and King Kong duked it out, who would win ?" Aside from that, there is the obvious conclusion:

Two countries with nuclear bombs equals nuclear parity (also known as M.A.D. or Mutually Assured Destruction.) Whoever shoots first, dies second.

It's a neat little equation that's kept India and Pakistan from using nukes, as well as kept the US and the Soviet Union from going at it.

Israel has over 100 nukes and the means to deliver them, anywhere in the Muslim world. I suspect it will be many decades before we see anything like parity in that area. I think it is more a matter of prestige. Somehow, militant nations become responsible players on the world stage, once they have nukes.

Israel knows it has nothing to fear (except the end of a 60-plus-year era of impunity to endlessly bully its neighbors, including the Palestinians.)

Israel points out that Iran may be able to make a nuclear bomb.

Newsflash: Israel has the basement full of nuclear bombs already.

So any demand on Iran to stop enriching Uranium would require Israel to get rid of their nuclear weapons as well. You can't say: look . . . this guy is about to buy a gun, while holding a loaded gun in your left and another one in your right hand.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Does that apply to the USA, too?

Israel is a "cancerous tumour" that will soon be finished off, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday told demonstrators holding an annual protest against the existence of the Jewish state.

"The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour. Even if one cell of them is left in one inch of (Palestinian) land, in the future this story (of Israel's existence) will repeat," he said in a speech in Tehran marking Iran's Quds Day that was broadcast on state television.

"The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said.

Has Israel threatend to wipe a country off the face of the earth? You have a mad man clearly time after time state the goal is to destroy Israel.

Depends on where you are sitting.. If I am Israel my viewpoint is that I am surrounded by countries who are filled with religious zealots that want me and every other person in my country dead. If they find any way to do it they will kill me without giving it a second thought. My country has had nukes since 1967, we have hundreds now including both fusion bombs and fission bombs. We have not used them which proves we are responsible..

If they really feel they are in danger of being wiped out they will do what they have to for self preservation. I would feel the same if I shared their neighbors.. I hope they don't take more provocative action but I will understand if they do. I know its biased.

Israel's nuclear weapons didn't stop Egypt and Syria launching the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

It is by no means clear that Egypt and Syria "knew" that Israel had already assembled nuclear bombs by 1973, although there were rumors that it might have the capability. That info was not widely confirmed until 1986, when former Dimona worker Mordechai Vanunu spilled the beans to the British press.

The real question is: why didn't Israel actually use nukes in 1973 ?

#1. It would be extremely risky for Israel to use nuclear weapons against its next-door neighbors without risking considerable harm to its own population. At the time, Israel would have also risked retaliation from the Soviet Union, as well as from Western countries who would be opposed to their use in that situation. Nuclear weapons are well understood by the nations that have them to be a last resort, only when facing "imminent destruction." The Nixon administration made sure that Israel had more than enough conventional weapons and forces to defend itself, despite Israel's early losses in the war.

#2. Israel was caught off-guard in 1973, but knew it was not facing "imminent destruction" (despite propaganda to the contrary.) Israel knew full well that Egypt and Syria launched the 1973 war in order to recover the Sinai and the Golan Heights, the Egyptian and Syrian territories that Israel had appropriated in the aggressive war that the Zionist State initiated in 1967 - a war it started for the very purpose of expanding its territory. Egypt's and Syria's goal was never to destroy Israel, and Israeli leaders knew it.

#3. Nobody (other than the Israeli government) really knows how many nukes Israel might have built by 1973. It may not have had "enough" to successfully end the war by nukes alone. Some analysts estimate that Israel might have had perhaps a dozen at the time, but again, that information is not clear.

#4. Even a warmongering criminally-expansionist state like Israel knows that the first nation to use nuclear weapons risks severe international condemnation, exclusion from the community of "civilized nations," and potentially (or even likely) military action to remove that capability. Even by its Best Best Friend Forever.

Iran has never ever "threatened to attack Israel." Rhetoric about what God will do, or what other countries will do, is not the same thing. However, Israel has made a lot of threats about attacking Iran.

The "wipe off the map" comment, although cycled endlessly on the net, is a fabrication based on a mistranslation. Even the Israeli government and a pro-Israel propaganda factory like MEMRI have admitted it.

Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor acknowledged on Al Jazeera English (4/14/12) that Iranian leaders have never called for Israel to be "wiped" off the map.

Meridor agreed with interviewer Teymoor Nabili's suggestion that the supposed remarks were never actually made; Iranian leaders, Meridor said,

come basically ideologically, religiously, with the statement that Israel is an unnatural creature, it will not survive. They didn't say "we'll wipe it out," you are right, but [that] it will not survive, it is a cancerous tumor, it should be removed.

But hey, repeat something enough times, and enough people will keep believing it.

This is another fallacy. Israel is the 4th-best equipped military in the world; its neighbors have never had the means to threaten its existence. In fact, Israel has launched repeated attacks and invasions of its neighbors in order to gain territory, all the time whining about what a victim it is as cover. Some people continue to fall for it.

What if I invaded your home, murdered some of your family, announced that your property is now mine, and then made the claim that your anger or violent reaction has nothing to do with my crimes - but rather is because you hate me and want to annihilate me simply because of my religion; also that I'm the actual victim, and that I need more and more and more weapons to defend myself, as well as more of your property in order to make me feel safer because "you want to wipe me out." Most people would think that was nutty - even criminally insane. But some people continue to fall for Israel's supposed "victimhood."

A few recent quotes from Irans leader who has never threatened to attack Israel:

The Zionist regime is a cancerous tumor and it will be removed.”

Maybe they mistook that remark as possibly hostile?

"The existence of the Zionist regime is an insult to all humanity"

That could be taken the wrong way

"The Zionist state is a corrupt, anti-human organized minority group standing up to all divine values - confronting the existence of the fabricated Zionist regime is in fact protecting the rights and dignity of all human beings"

This could be viewed in a negative fashion possibly, I know crazy right?

But as you like to repeat here, Iran has stated it is not building a bomb, you beleive them I assume as you state it as a base fact, so we have nothing to worry about anyway. Maybe he could reword some of those olive branches he has been extending for those of us too dense to realize they are not threats...

In none of those quotes does Iran threaten to attack Israel. Try again.

LOL @ "as you like to repeat here." Dude, it's not just me saying Iran is not building a bomb - it's the consensus of both the U.S. and Israel's intelligence experts.

But thank you for playing
