The ideal situation is that it would take about a week from NVC to the Embassy. But it can take longer. I have seen one situation where it took 3 weeks, which doesn't seem to be so common.

After the Embassy receives your case, they will send packet 3 to the benificiary, which contains forms that need to be filled out and returned to the Embassy before they will schedule the interview. In our case, the interview was scheduled about 2 months after the forms were sent back to the Embassy. Sent the forms in the middle/end of May, and the interview was scheduled for July 22. (check our timeline for more details).

Hi,

Our NOA2 was approved in about the 2nd week of June 2005, and we recieved our interview letter around the last part of September 2005. It took a long time for us, and we were very concerned at the time. The case moved from the service center (after approved) to the NVC extremely fast. I called the NVC several times - they said they sent the case to New Delhi roughly a week after it was recieved from the service center. The embassy in New Delhi constantly told me they hadn't recieved it yet - very frustrating. I wouldn't be too concerned if it takes awhile from NVC to New Delhi even though for most people (other embassies I've noticed) it doesn't take near that long. I don't know if they are so swamped with mail at the embassy that it takes that long or what the problem is. We waited about 3 months but hope you don't have as long as we did. Just call the NVC if you have a problem and e-mail the embassy in New Delhi.
