hey guys just wnated to know if the one who wants to get me from here(philippines)really need to be employee?because he has business and now needs to submit his employment record.hope i can get an idea about this one.

If he owns a business that means he is "self employed", and that is fine. He just needs to provide 3 years of tax returns when it comes to the interview.

No, the instructions say copy of last income tax return filed, NOT 3 years.

Well I have always heard 3 - but nonetheless. What was he doing BEFORE he bought the business? Was he working? He needs to prove that he can make enough to support you - 125% above the poverty line...which you can find that info somewhere on this page. He will have to show income from the last three years, or an explanation as to why there was no income for the ones before he bought the business (ie he was in school - or medically unable to work, etc etc).

There is a REALLY good guide on the affadavit of support and I recommend reading it in entirety.

I believe that the rules have changed recently about tax returns, but it may be wise to have three available.

Just because your fiance has not owned the business that long doesn't mean he doesn't have 3 years of tax returns - one from his own business and two from his previous employer. Don't panic!

The main thing is being able to prove he is above 125% of the poverty line, whether it's with his own assets or through the use of a joint-sponsor.
