It's the worst news I ever got! They told my husband that they received our case on Feb 26 and it's going to be 6-8 months from that date until they process it!!! I don't even want to believe this could be true!!! So what, the five months from Sep to Feb are like nothing?!? He also had an appointment with the congressman's immigration director, who said she would try to help... But I'm just losing all the hope... :crying: They obviously think they can do whatever they want

Sad.... nothing but Sad.... I am so angered... they literally doing whatever they want to do. What about the waiting since Sep? I hope something positive come out from Immigration director.

r u serious?, then why did they ask to sent the petition to USCIS office in the first place, they should have asked everyone to mail the petitions directly to local office right? totally non-sense. I think they just tell you whatever comes to their mind at that point of time. I think that person was not ur case incharge. I don't believe it. I feel very sad for you, Hope something good comes out from congressman's help.

09/20/12 --- NOA1 recieved via e-mail (CSC)
09/27/12 --- NOA1 hardcopy received
01/24/13 --- Called USCIS customer care and found that case was transferred to Local USCIS office (never got notice of it)
03/18/13 --- Submitted E-request as the petition is officially 180 days beyond
03/18/13 --- Tier2 ISO told the petition is at NBC.
04/01/13 --- We received email confirmation abt the E-request that we put in 2 weeks earlier
04/04/13 --- Went for infopass appointment at local office and they approved my petition and sent it to NBC
04/08/13 --- Received NOA2 today (date of NOA2 is 04/04/2013).

NVC Process

04/18/13 --- Called NVC for case number, they told that they got file on 04/15 asked us to call back of 20 business days
04/23/13 --- Called NVC and got the Case number and invoice identification number.

04/24/13 --- Sent DS-3032 by email.

04/29/13 --- Got AOS Fee email from NVC,

04/30/13 --- AOS Fee payment done online.

05/01/13 --- Send AOS documents packet by Fedex.

05/03/13 --- AOS Packet reached NVC.

05/06/13 --- Got Immigrant Visa Application Fee Bill Invoice email from NVC.

05/07/13 --- Packet IV Fee payment done online.

05/08/13 --- Send Packet IV documents by Fedex.

05/10/13 --- Packet IV reached NVC.

06/10/13 --- Got checklist email for i-864.

06/11/13 --- Corrected i-864 reached NVC.

07/01/13 --- Got new checklist again from NVC, but it was mentioned that we meet the min requirement to schedule an interivew, so asked us to

get the corrected i-864 to interview.

07/08/13 --- Got Case Completion email. ( Case completetion date at NVC is 06/28 ).

07/31/13 --- Interview date scheduled on 09/03.

I don't know what to think anymore... Every time we get a different piece of information. I'm going to try to get a tourist visa so I can go see my husband, because I just can't take it anymore... Any news about your case?

No nothing yet, Its been over a week now since i put in e-request, and i didn't even get that acknowledgement notice yet ( i think we usually get one right?). I have infopass appointment on April 4th, fingers crossed..

When I put in an e-request I just got a confirmation number on the website (nothing by e-mail). Of course, I haven't got any reply yet and it's been more than two weeks. Good luck with your infopass, I hope it goes better than ours

ya, i got that confirmation number on the website, but i thought we get some kind of notice for that. Thanks, will keep you posted if i have any update. Hope your appointment with immigration director goes well. Keep smiling and hope for the best :)

No. Having a lawyer doesn't speed up the process at all.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Unless you have some sort of unusual case (criminal background, waivers, etc), I would advise you against it. The lawyer isn't going to be able to speed anything up, and won't be able to tell you anything about why it's taking so long. The only thing they'd be able to do for you would be gather the needed paperwork and help fill out the forms, which you can easily do yourself after reading the guides here on VJ without shelling out hundreds of dollars. Since your case has already been sent to USCIS, the lawyer wouldn't be able to do much with it until it was approved and sent to NVC.

Lawyer will only delay your case, and believe me even if you hire expert immigration lawyers, benefit is little. I think you will be better off without lawyer. From my family we paid about 7500 for 3 cases and now we are thinking about firing lawyer as he delayed our cases and never provided that vital information. It is hard to put every point here but in short NEVER tRUSt them and do it your self.

My hubby too hired a lawyer and filed for my cr1 visa in september hopefully it got approved in october but since then there's no news n that lawyer who charged a huge sum is not even responding to our calls n emails it's already 6 months n we still didn't receive our noa2 n that lawyer is least bothered .. Lawyers only charge huge amounts n file for the visa but nothing else . :@

Was your case approved or still pending? please update your timeline

We just received noa1 in October 1st week since then my status is initial review not changed yet :( .... I thought of creating a timeline but then there is not much info I can provide :(
