hi guys

Does anyone social security card says " VALID FOR WORK ONLY" ???

6/29/12 AOS Package mailed Chicago Lockbox

7/01/12 Package delivered

7/09/12 NOA email notification

7/14/12 Received hard copy of NOA in the mail

7/16/12 Received biometric appointment letter for 8/01/12

7/23/12 Successful walk in Biometrics

8/15/12 Received email for interview notice

8/17/12 Received interview notice in the mail

9/10/12 EAD card ordered, (didnt get email or text checked it on USCIS website)

9/18/12 EAD card received in the mail

9/18/12 Interview done, approved on the spot!

9/19/12 Got email that approval notice was mailed out on 9/18/12

9/22/12 Received Approval notice in the mail

9/24/12 Got email that greencard was sent in the mail

9/26/12 Received greencard in the mail, thank you lord!

If you obtained a social security card / number by showing an EAD as proof of being able to work in the United States (as opposed to a green card) then your social security card will bear the endorsement "Valid for work only with DHS authorisation".

Thanks but what should i do now? should i bring my greencard to the social security office and let them issue me a new SS card, or can i use the card i already have?

It's not required to update it to unrestricted however it's a good idea.

It's a good idea if you later on were to stand in between jobs and in the middle of ROC and you only had ssn and couldn't show your green card. Odds aren't really that high for it happening however it's still neat to have the ssn reflect your status.

You can bring your greencard to SSA and have them update it, yes.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

Even during ROC you will still have the (restricted) green card and the extension letter from USCIS.

I personally don't see the point in removing the annotation from your social security card, but some people like to do it.
