Hello Everyone!

I am so confused regarding sending copies or originals with the I-130 application. I did send only copies of our marriage certificate, divorce decree and Citizenship certificate. I guess I am expecting an RFE very soon if I was supposed to send originals or certified copies!

Thank you All.

Original documents are not submitted with the I-130 petition (the I-130 is a petition form, not an application form).

The photocopies of the documentation you submitted with your petition will be sufficient.

Please dont send Originals until needed. I sent them to USCIS in the beggining and had to send another set to have case completed. FRONTLOAD originals after NOA2 when you are paying your fees IV and AOS and if or you get a checklist.

Thank you All.

You did it right.

Photocopies only with the I-130. The instructions states not to send originals in with the I-130.

After USCIS approves the I-130, the case will be sent to the NVC. At the NVC state, you will need to send in the originals or certified copies with Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, and Form DS-230, Immigrant Visa Application.

You did it right, don't worry!

You send PHOTOCOPIES only, when u send your package with I-130 to the USCIS, you will need the originals later.

I know how you feel, because I got confused as well at the beginning of this journey, since some people here in the forum said that we MUST send ORIGINALS of all our notarized affidavits, which was wrong, you will need them for NVC process, not for USCIS when you first send the petition I -130

GOOD LUCK!!

Why is it so confusing? The instructions clearly state "photocopies" at the I-130 stage.

does the same apply for the k-1? or all visa processing you only send photocopies?

Only photocopies are sent to USCIS, regardless of what visa is ultimately being pursued.
