Hi pushbrk,

I only have a "Certificate of Citizenship" as far as I know.

I just assumed that I might have had both. I thought I might've gotten a 'Certificate of Naturalization' first and then got the 'Certificate of Citizenship'. But I don't think that's the case now.

The only certificate I have in my possession is a "Certificate of Citizenship". If I also have a 'Certificate of Naturalization' then my parents have it somewhere. But again, I doubt I have one. I need to remember to ask my parents before I leave for China.

Take care,

notmuch88tosay

There's no legitimate reason to have both certificates. Sounds like your parents Naturalized and you got citizenship through them. But sure, ask.

Sounds like you were given U.S. citizenship through your parents who became U.S. Citizens.

Hi pieroot,

Yes, I'm starting to think that's what happened.

Hopefully I'll find out how I ended up on this planet soon enough.

Thanks for your reply,

Hi pushbrk,

Thanks for the info. I will need to remind myself to remember to ask my parents before I leave.

One more thing, I have a middle name on my "Certificate Of Citizenship" that I have never used anywhere in the U.S. (or anywhere in the world that I remember). This middle name is not on my drivers licence, it's not on my passport, it's not on my Costco card, my library card, my Macy's card, or anywhere else.

Should I put this middle name on the CR-1 forms?

Someone please let me know.

Thanks,

notmuch88tosay

Yes, everywhere asked. In all the confusion, I was under the impression you were native Chinese and would not have a middle name. If so, your two syllable/character given name is properly expressed as one name in Pinyin. (Yes some Chinese still write it as two separate names, in error.) If you're not Chinese, disregard. If a middle name appears on your certificate of citizenship though, it is part of your full legal name.

Hi pushbrk,

Thanks so much for the info.

I have one problem... on the Form i-130, my middle name fits in the text box, but on the Form G-325a, my middle name does not fit in the text box provided. My middle name needs 12 characters of space, but the form does not give that much space for the middle name text box.

What should I do?

Write it in by hand.

Hi pushbrk,

Thanks for the info. I didn't think that was allowed; I thought that would cause the beaurocrat to freak out and start setting things on fire or something.

Great to know I can mix typewritten text with handwriting on the forms.

Thanks again,
