Hi All you helpful people out there! I've gotten so much useful information from this site already...here's my timeline:

Me : US citizen

Husband: Portuguese/venezuelan

Married 6/17/12

Sent off packet 7/26/12

Interview scheduled 10/3/12

Here's my problem...I did not make a complete copy of all the paperwork I did! Doh! Also..I mailed off the original certified marriage license in my moment of excitement.. :bonk:

Now what out off all the stuff I sent is really important for interview purposes? In the checklist it says we need "all documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident status" what does that mean exactly?

Any useful information I will be most grateful for!!! This process is a true test of our love right??!!

THANK YOU

Hey,

If they have the original marriage cert they will keep it. Did you not make a photocopy? If you have a copy you can ask them to swap it for the original.

Haha, not so much a test of true love, but more what evidence you have to show it.

Here's the list of everything I took.

]My husband

NOA with interview date (+copy) Didn't need to show this

Copy of my medical/vaccination supplement (was already submitted with AOS, but just to be sure) (+copy) Didn't need to show this

Copy of form I-864 and accompanying evidence (W2s, tax return) (was already submitted with AOS, but just to be sure)(+copy) Didn't need to show this

Husband's last two payslips (+copy) Didn't need this

My passport with I-94 (+copy) He took this

My birth certificate (+copy) He already had this

Husband's birth certificate (+copy) Already had this

Husband's passport (+copy) He looked at this

Husband's driver's licence(+copy) He looked at this

Marriage certificate (+copy) He already had this

I gave his all of this which he briefly looked through and kept.>>>

Evidence of bona fide marriage - all with both our names on

Bank statement (+copy)

2nd (different) bank statemnt (+copy)

Renters insurance (+copy)

Car insurance (+copy)

Health insurance (+copy)

Lease (+copy)

Credit card statement (+copy)

Wedding registry packing slip (+copy)

2nd wedding registry packing slip (+copy)

Couple of wedding cards (+copy)

Couple of wedding photos with parents (+copy)

Couple of photos with friends (+copy)

The man seemed a little bit surprised that I had so much evidence. We were asked about how we met and how our relationship has progressed. He confirmed a couple of things - like where my husband works and then said I was approved.

Evidence of eligibility of lawful presence is your K1 visa/I-94 (I think).

Hope that helps.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process to main AOS forum -- OP is at the AOS stage. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Can you order another copy of you marriage certificate, just to err on the side of caution? That, together with my original birth certificate, were the only two originals that the IO asked us. All the rest was photocopies (lease, some pics, and other minor stuff that I don't even remember).
