I'm wondering if anyone can speak to whether houbi will have problems (as a Moroccan citizen) trying to leave the country via the airport in Rabat with a couple thousand dollars in cash....?? This is for when he comes over to the US. Thanks in advance!

If it is in US dollars he should be ok. Just put it in his wallet or on his person and do not mention it to them. If it is dirhams it is illegal to take the money out of the country so make sure he exchanges it for dollars before he goes. They should exchange the dirhams if he shows his passport and has a valid USa visa at the airport if I remember correctly.

No, not through Rabat. But I know about the exchange part because once when I returned from Morocco I had about 300$ in dirhams and forgot to cash them in and once in the US I had a difficult time exchanging them. I did find one place but it was just too expensive so I held on to them until I went to Morocco again.

I do not see them even knowing he has that much cash on him unless he tells them.
