I had filed am I-130 for my husband on January 22, 2012. The USCIS has not yet made any progress with this case. It is still under INITIAL REVIEW. Has anyone else expedienced such a delay on the I-130 filing. Please help, let me know what happened, what actions did you take, except calling the USCIS every 30-60 days. Thank you very much for your answers.

Get in touch with your Congressman/Senator asking for help. This is way beyond processing time and ask them to expedite the case for you. Inquires from the Congress does definitely help.If both of them no help try contacting Ombudsman man Case Assistance. Below is the link for that

Thank you very much. I will be contacting my congressman, if I don't hear from them by Oct. 3. When I called at 6 months, they told me that an ONPT request will be submitted. I received an email from VCS stating: "We have requested your case. Please allow us minimum 60 days for processing'. 60 days will be up on Oct. 3. I am hopping I get an answer before that, if not I guess congressman will be my next step. Thank you for the info. I want to know if anyone else was in the same boat as me, and what exactly they did to get an answer from USCIS.

dont wait for 60 days . that's the standard reply they give for any service request. Dont waste anymore time and get in touch with Congressman. This is the perfect time becos we are nearing voting date and they would do anything to get your vote. You are way over normal processing time . Write up a nice letter explaining your situation and ask them to expedite the case. My request worked and within 10 days my congressman's caseworker got it done for me.

Thank you very much. I contacted my congressman's office on Monday. I was told by them that the USCIS usually replies within 5 business days to their requests. I really hope that this will do it. If not, I will contat Senator's office and Ombudsman. This is way too long for an I-130 filed by USC. I will keep you all posted.

Is anyone else going through the same situation.
