Yes. This is also explained in the VJ guide, as well as in the instructions for the forms. You have to make an appointment with a certified civil surgeon, and get the medical done. The paperwork has to be included in the AOS package in the sealed envelope you will receive from the doctor's office.

I'm not trying to ask other people to answer everything for me because I'm too slack to read it myself. It's just after reading conflicting views on other sites for months, I'm trying to be certain of what is and is not needed.

To be successful in this process, you will need to be able to read accurately and interpret literally.

I urge you not to read "sites" but to read the form instructions themselves, and to read the VJ GUIDE. That is all you need, not "sites." Here the information is digested for you. It is also on the form instructions themselves, and the VJ GUIDE gives you the correct list for forms for your situation.

The hardest part is figuring out which forms to file, but the VJ GUIDE has a list of all the forms you need, and I linked you to that guide earlier. You don't need to read ANYTHING ELSE.

I am not trying to be mean, but this is a DIY site. VJ members are happy to help, and I am trying to help you in what I think is the best way for this situation: you need to re read the form instructions and the guides. If you don't understand them, then you will have problems with your case. Think of it as practice to know whether or not you need a lawyer. Good luck; let us know what you find out.

On the vj guide, it doesn't appear as a required document- unless I'm overlooking it. However, on the state .gov website it does appear and states that every applicant over 16 years of age must submit a police certificate. We're only trying to be certain of what we need before filing- like everyone else. Honestly not trying to use vj as an excuse not to read it ourselves....

You're probably reading the wrong thing on the state.gov website. You are applying for adjustment of status. You are not applying for a spousal visa so you shouldn't be reading anything on the state.gov site about that.
