Possible to get married elsewhere and then have it recognized in the USA?

There is no easy way around the process. I should get your back taxes filed and get all of your documents together. With this process one can never hide. The USICS makes few errors in terms of what they know about us. I was once told that they can use our SS # and really bring up all about us they need to make a decision. The forms are just to verify what they know. Rule of thumb to know. Shortcuts end up being long.

We all want to be with our fiancee/spouse. Doing this waiting time will build a relationship stronger. Good luck

My husband is American, I am Zimbabwean and we got married in South Africa so yes, you can do that and it will be recognised.

However, as others have mentioned before me, you will still need to fulfill the immigration requirements as those are set in stone and there is no way around them for both a fiancee and a spouse. (CR1 or K1)
