Hello everyone and I'm new to the forum.

I've been writing a lady in Guangdong, age 49, for some time now and we've decided it's time to meet in person. I've been all over Europe including the FSU but never been to China. I know and understand everything about the K1.

I would like to know if anyone has been to Guangdong and could get me started in the right direction. I'll probably need much more help with you guys and girls as time goes on for us. I'm sure I'll need a lot of help with getting all the visa work completed if all goes well for us when we meet.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

Welcome to the forum.

Good luck on your trip to Guangdong and southern China. If you know and understand everything about the K1, then you may be in better shape that the rest of us..... There are quite a few of us that have been to various parts of that large country, including Guangzhou. I have made four trips to China, and would love to see more of China. However, I will likely hold off on that 11-hour flight from Seattle for awhile. B-) One thing that I would recommend is that you enroll in the US Department of State's STEP service. I am sure that other members will post responses.

Safe traveling.

Many good hotels depends on where and how much you want to spend. Had a great time there, stayed at the Sun Park Hotel, close to my finance's home at the time. Like AB said get in the STEP program and get a Goes card. My wife fly's the China Southern direct from LAX and I flew Asiana Business Class. FYI ;think about a CR1 that way she will come on a green card. IE: get married in China and apply as married, cheaper and avoids AOS, also gives her time to tie up loose ends. Andy you have time to clean and organize the house.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

so, find Marc Ellis website, call the china number listed there -

you'll get Eunice Wang.

PAY FOR A CONSULT, have her sit down with you and yer lass.

Just a consult, though.

You'll feel better, after.

and tell her Uncle Darnell say hullo la.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I apologize for taking so long to respond to all your very informative replies and I thank you for them. My lady was retiring and relocating back to her home city Kunming so now we can begin to make better plans for me to go visit her.

I would appreciate any info from you on her city and how best to fly there from Atlanta if any of you have been there before.

I'm sure I'll have many more questions to ask you about the travel and the best way to do a visa when the time comes.

Once again I thank you.

Buy your ticket and apply here for a visa. http://www.chinavisanewyork.com/

You are a victim of the airline you choose as far as best way. My guess would be Atlanta to Washington to Shanghai to Kunming. Start searching the airlines for the best deals and time. Plan on 1500$ - 1700$ for flight and about 1000$ - 1500$ per week while you are there. Let her do in China planning and hotel reservations. She will be able to find good cheap hotels.

Oh wow!! Kunming is an ancient city, terminus of the Old Silk Road.

I was there in February 2012, didn't get to spend much time there. My wife planned a special trip for us, we met in Beijing, flew onto Kunming, then onto Xishuangbanna for a week, then onto Lijiang for another week. We wanted to get out of the city hustle and bustle and the northern COLD, so we toured the smaller cities of Yunnan province and spent some time with the ethnic minorities of the region. A very memorable trip!!!

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thanks guys for your replies. A&B my lady started sending me pics today of where her home is since she's retired and moved back there. I'm certainly looking forward to my trip over to meet her and get out and see some of the country, but of course she'll have priority over anything. :-)

It blew her away today when I told her I love the 12 Girls Band from China and Traditional Chinese music. I listen to it sometimes when I'm having to spend a day in Autocad to help keep my mind from crashing.

I asked her about hotels and she told me I was to stay with her in her home because I didn't know the language and the customs and she would be worried about me, and we have a lot of things to discuss. I've been to Russia a lot of times and thought they were neat but when she gave me a tour of her home in Skype tonight I almost crashed when I saw how everything was as neat and tidy as it was.

Now all I've got to do is find out how to get to her and set the dates to go over. :-)
