Hey, Ive been on here before and  .. ive got everything sorted for my trip to he USA.. im leaving in 4weeks time, i have my passport, ESTA and plane tickets booked ready to go, but im confused... :help:

I leave From Belfast - going to Newark NJ Inrntl Airport, wait a few hrs (I think its roughly a 5hr wait) then get on another plane heading to North carolina which is my Final Destination!

But, IM wondering, where would i go through CBP? and the person who looks at my ESTA to give me the final decision on it? will it be the first airport? hence that would technically be the first port of entry even though im not staying there? Or would it be in NC? CLT

PLus, When i get off the plane in Newark,NJ, Do i Go and get my bags and recheck them in?? then go through me security and maybe even customs ect there?? I find it quite scary, first time flying tbh, and ill be in a airport im not familer with lol

Thnx!

You'll go through customs at the first airport you see, so NJ

Not sure about your bags, but I think so. I think Newark is one where you'll claim your bags, go through customs, recheck your bags for your next flight

But research the airport and see for sure

Good luck

You'll clear immigration and then on to baggage claim. Then you will take your bags through customs and then re-check them in the connecting flight re-check area just through the door. The pain in the #### part is that you have to go up to the departure area and clear security again. 5 hours should be plenty of time.

Yeah you'll have to recheck your bags again. The reason is because you need to pass through customs first, and sometimes they may want to check your bags.

That about sums it up. : thumbs:

And 5 hours is easily enough time to get through it all at Newark. You'll have plenty of time to get a bite to eat if you need to.
