I called today just to be sure as I got my NOA1 on October 29th and even got the paper one in Colombia (where the mail is bad!!) on November 29th. They said if the number hasnt shown up after 45 days, then call again because they are just taking longer to put our numbers in. We are pretty close to 45 days, so I wonder what they´ll say then.

Good Luck!

Hi Folks,

My wife and I have just started this process six weeks ago and found this thread very valuable. (Thanks!)

We are somewhat concerned that we still cannot see the status of our case online, after some 5+ weeks. At what point do we need to be concerned? We really need this process to not languish due to inaction.

tia,

Stu

The little details:

  • Posted I-130 ~15 October from Switzerland to Chicago Lockbox
  • I-130 NOA1 priority date 26 October 2012 with MSC receipt number
  • Posted I-129f in very early November from Switzerland to Texas Lockbox
  • I-129f NOA1 priority date 15 November 2012 with MSC receipt number

We are really stressed about all this as 1) I'll be moving to SFO in January to start a job, and 2) my wife is pregnant, due in mid_march. We are assuming the process will take ages are planning on my wife an child heading to my wife's native South Africa to wait out the process. (That's if every other star lines up correctly too.)

if you have a MSC #, please ask for an ISO when calling.

The CSRs can't see casefile status on MSC casefiles, I-130s submitted for spousal visas.

Just my 2 cents and recent experience.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Ok I will - didn´t know what they were called. I also asked the woman about changing my address and she said you could only put in US addresses. I was like well I put in a foreign address and actually received the paper NOA1 in Colombia. She was like oh well youd have to talk the next higher up person because I don´t know how to do that.

ISO info:

ISO - http://www.dhs.gov/files/publications/gc_1305658440339.shtm

Be prepared to wait after a transfer, anywhere from 2 minutes to 90 minutes.

When first calling into USCIS, punch no buttons,

then when the Spanish Speaking CSR starts talking, say 'English Please'

and ask to be transferred to an ISO.

Thanks! It is really annoying to figure out how to actually get to talk to a real person - same with IRS which I also had to call today!

I've called the IRS at least 30 times and have never had trouble speaking with a person

You say you want to talk about your personal tax return.

Then you are transferred to an idiot of sorts with no information and you ask a question and they say 'let me transfer you'

Then you wait on hold anywhere from 10-45 minutes.

Then 30% of the time when the semi-smart person goes to pick up, they hang up on you.

So you repeat the above steps and then the second time you will talk to a person.

And then that person will decide to make up their own rules about what information they can give you/ask you so you'll get frustrated and hang up.

Then you'll start from the beginning again and this time get someone that will help you.

Congrats! I had very similar timing, so looks like NBC is working through mid to late September now. My timeline on the website was right on...

NOA1 Sept 15

Transfer to NBC Sept 21

Error about changed address Dec 5

NOA 2 Dec 6

As far as I can tell, I was never transferred to a local office.

We don't live in the states, but abroad. So my file was first routed to California, then was sent to Missouri (NBC).
