I went to the county court and the county clerk told me it takes 47 weeks to get first time new passport. Is it true it takes so long to get your first time passport. Looking forward for your kind responses.

Thanks

Are you sure that you weren't told that it takes 4 to 7 weeks?

I just read your post and had exactly the same thought as Anh map. Four weeks is about average for a first time passport. I received my renewal passport in a couple weeks.

Either you misunderstood or it was a tying error. It's 4 to 7 weeks. Usually you getting it before the third week. All my friends and family have received their first PP,s well within the three week time frame.

I was too astounded to know that it takes 47 weeks, that makes almost a year. I am curious to know the right information here as visajourney its a very good forum to cater correct information. Secondly i want to know do i get my original naturalized certificate before or the passport. Your answer put me in great ease, moreover i hope i get my original naturalized certificate back as we were told at oath ceremony if it get lost it takes minimum 8 months to one year. I feel i will be in restless until i get my certificate back.

:goofy: Forgive me, but I laughed out loud when I read "47" as I knew exactly what it meant. My husband and I went to the post office just 5 hours ago for him to submit his application for his U.S. Passport. We were told FOUR to SIX weeks until it came back and from what I have read on VJ lately, the Certificate comes back separately approximately one to two weeks afterward. My husband was somewhat distraught (not really) that they took the original of his Certificate, knowing they had to, but is worried sick about it. At least we used it last week to change is social security card information and get his new driver's license with it before we sent it off for the passport. :goofy:
