Is it just me or some seasoned members here are only up to humiliate the newbies?

I've noticed that there are quite a few members here that just like to call out other people who doesn't exactly answer OP's question and sadly they're the seasoned members. I understand that sometimes this could confuse the OP even more but it could not be avoided most of the time but was that even necessary? As a fairly new member and still learning the ins and outs of the process, it's intimidating to add comments sometimes. You'll never know who will pop up to humiliate you. We're all here to learn from each other and not to show who's smarter and point out who has no absolute idea what they're getting into. Just sayin'....

I think it has to do with the fact that people tend to show their true colors when they can say what they please, anonymously. I have encountered some of these around here and IMHO their manners, or lack thereof, are a reflection of their ability to interact with other people. As with all bullies, perhaps their motivation is insecurity, unawareness or just the recognition of their own weaknesses. Show me a bully and I'll show you a coward.

Remember that, In essence, what others think of you, is really, none of yours business...

Having said that, there are some threads in which it is somewhat harder to stay objective and every now and then one might fall prey to the 'What were you thinking' discourse, albeit meant in a harmless manner and not intended to alienate the interlocutor, primarily.

In time you will realize who falls into which category, for the behavior you describe is found in all internet fori.

As a 'seasoned' member (lots of salt  ), I do try not to answer posts with misinformation if I'm in a particularly bad mood. LOL But I do wish sometimes that people would not speculate on an answer and possibly send a member down a further process worm hole with said misinformation. Yes it helps to say 'I think', but the nature of message boards is that people come in, ask a question, get an answer they either want to hear or that 'may' be right, and then trot off to go through that process without ever coming back to the board. Those people miss the benefit of corrective answers and discussion - possibly even someone asking more questions that are relevant to their situation and could change the answer significantly. The onus is on that person to fully investigate and not jump at the first answer they get, but sometimes that's not likely to happen on the interwebz. Heh.

So I do wish those who aren't sure of the answers will at least say, 'Here's what I think, but it's in your best interest to let others answer first before acting on the information I've provided.' I have done that SO many times since joining VJ and am glad I did. Not only have I learned things I didn't know, but hopefully the poster actually got the answer that is relevant and helpful to them instead of causing themselves further complications. And isn't that what this board should be about?

The above needs to be enshrined in the pantheon of All-Time VJ Posts, si man. Well-said and bravo, Tracy-Bone (sorry that "T-Bone" is already taken).

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

Actually, the plural of "forum" is "fora" or "forums." It could never be "fori," because "forum" is second declension neuter, which takes "-a" as the nominative plural. Since English is a (mostly) non-inflected language, one uses the nominative as the form for the plural, despite the phrase requiring an ablative in Latin (which would make it "forīs").

Oh, is that me being a forum bully?innocent.gif

Well, from where I stand you helped me correct something that was wrong. I take it as a gesture of kindness rather than anything else... (I also enjoyed the entire explanation and had a duh! moment when I thought of 'gymnasium'...)

Yeah, but they only see bits and parts with one eye opened.

Unless someone fingers you and in they come.

I know the mods makes the rule yadi yada and if I don't like it I can sign off but I hate double standard. I di exactly the sam thing that a mod did and my post got removed. That is bullying.

Be very careful of friends of the mods, they are sometimes more dangerous that mods themselves.

I have said too much I will now slither back under the bridge.

if you really wanna understand RUB women, i can fill you in privately. i have some experience and know how the game is played.

Thanks, I've known my "RUB" wife for 11 years. Been married for 6. We've got two kids 4 and 9. In short, I'm not looking for a RUB woman, don't really need the advice, and I'm not sure what you could tell me that I don't already know.

No one disputes that fraud and abuse occurs. I think if you offered your advice when solicited, and appropriate, it would be very helpful. It's your unsolicited advice that pushes it at times.

Good thing we're not talking about verbs, or you'd be getting into conjugative relations, see man.

I go so far as to refer to condominina, certe virem.

Martinis (sic, man)

Martini (hic, man)
