baggage check in fees

Hi, I was wondering if I got ripped off with the airlines I booked my fiancé flight

I paid $568 departing on Oct. 6 (MNL to LAX-ONEWAY) (United Airlines).

I was told the 1st check in (baggage/50pounds) is free and for the 2nd check in is $70.

I remember last time I travel international flight travelers is/are supposed to have 2 free checked-in. or they recently change the fees again?

It depends on the airline. Philippine Airlines allows 2 free checked-in but it's a lot more expensive than most airlines from MNL to LAX. More expensive than $70. My husband prefers it because we have a toddler and he hates sitting in a plane. PAL has direct flights so it's shorter.

Yup it's what it say on United website. 1 free 50 lb check-in baggage and 2nd one is $70, unless you're Premium Platinum member. Wow that's a rip-off. Oh well, good to know United does that. Sorry...

yes I am on on the way of paying $70 for another checking in bag. I cant afford only bringing one box! I think they forgot that some of their passengers are actually migrating not just merely visiting

It's sad they're like that with the fees. You can always call them and plead your case..............but bring an extra $70 just in case.

It's the norm now unfortunately. I recently flew, was charged to 'select my seat' online! And for baggage. And for food. If I had turned on the air valve or reading light, they probably would have charged me.

I guess they are right depends on the airline, cuz from Hawaiian Airlines they got 1-2 free bags for check-in, so what I did I send some

of our clothing stuff via postal so I can carry less especially I got a handful lil girl with me.

Check into joining their frequent flyer program, not sure if that'll give you any savings. Usually it costs nothing to join.

It depends on the airlines.. I flew by Delta.. Delta allowed you to bring 2 check in bag of 23 kg each, one hand carry of 15-18 kg and your purse..

Wow, cheap ticket price. Pay the $70 and you're still way ahead. American carriers all typically have the one bag rule. But you can bring a large carry-on and if doesn't fit they will check it for free

Thanks guys. But I think this airline is a big rip off. They send me my itinerary seems that the passenger will only eat once...then to purchase food you need to have a credit card...usually people in the philippines don't have credit card :bonk:

sad thing no food allowed when entering the terminal...geesshh I guess he has no choice is to eat from the terminal restaurant prior to his departure/change flight...the thing is he has ONLY 1hr to get to his next flight lol poor baby

Lesson learned avoid bargaining...you'll end up to a disaster!!!!!!!!

What airline did you get the ticket on? There are rules airlineshave to abide by. If he is connecting somewhere he will get a meal on each flight more than likely if not more. They have to serve food, doesn't mean he will like it.

I see your point though, better to sprnd $1200 on a ticket so he will get one more meal that he won't care to much about anyway,

My fiancee didn't eat hardly anything on the trip here, jyst fed her good when she arrived. She didn't die and looked rather healthy and cheerful.

From united airlines...I assumed because he has connecting flight making his flight shorter each flight (3hrs/7hrs 20mins/5hrs 20mins)

I remember now as soon as you enter the Philippines airport terminal passenger could able to buy food and bright that on-board without problem...ehehe thanks
