What about income earned in the US and then taken overseas?

That will have already been taxed

Yet outsourcing is bad while actors spending millions overseas living the life is good because they paid x dollars in tax in the US..

Did you forget to take your vitamins today?

I still don't understand this irrational hatred of celebrities. Still sounds like subconcious envy to me, or some sort of working class "I hate the rich and famous" mind-set. Just strange...

What's wrong with being independently wealthy?

It's fun to generalize, isn't it? Shows your level of ignorance on the subject matter but it sure seems fun.

Besides, you remark has nothing to do with the point that was being made. But you probably missed that, too.

The jobs are out there. There seems to be a problem with a lot of peoples attitude and their stance that they would never dare do x jobs. A job is a job. The problem is everyone wants a nice little cubicle job.. The work is there if one wants to do it..
ET has a pretty senior Financial Industry job if memory serves. Hardly the result of a "bad attitude" and a desire for a cush "cubicle job". He was responding to a post by Carol&Marc that taking time to secure a permanent job mean't that he was lazy.

Pretty senior may be debatable. However, it is the kind of job that one doesn't hook in a week or two.

Here's another couple of Bush's crowning achievements, which should not be forgotten.

1) Attempting to subvert the legal ruling of the court system in the Terri Schiavo case for political grandstanding. His brother, the Governor of Florida was even suggesting that they would defy the court's decision (thereby breaking the law). They would likely have done it too - if they thought they had enough public sympathy on their side.

2) Trying to install a personal friend in the Supreme Court who was completely unqualified to hold the office.

Several interviews right? That certainly would not be an overnight thing. My wife had to go to NYC twice over a period of 3-4 weeks before she got her job.

Yes. There were three separate sets of phone interviews of roughly 1.5 hours each and a series of 4 face-to-face interviews that lasted 6+ hours total. The entire process from the first contact to actually starting the job (this included a 1,000 mile relocation) alone was longer than three months.

You would probably be wasting your time telling the people of Michigan the economy is going well -- people there would point him to the nearest crackhouse (in Detroit there are plenty to choose from) and tell you to light up. The unemployment rate there is the highest it's been in past 3 years than when the first Bush was in office.

You don't think that has something to do with left wing unions and their ever increasing wage demands forcing companies to close shop...

PS I highly doubt many Californians give a ###### about buying US cars to keep jobs in the US.

i'd buy a US car if they had a decent mileage like the japanese hybrids.. actually ford has a hybrid model, or a more than 30mpg.. i'd buy it.. but, oh well.. Real Americans want big trucks!! gas guzzling behemoths!!

I bought a US truck. A Toyota Tacoma. Assembled by American workers using American parts. Only the company headquarters is in Japan. Therefore, most of my money goes to Americans: The people who make the parts, the people who assemble the truck, the transport company who delivered it to the dealership, and the dealership itself.

On the other hand, you could buy a Chevy Sonoma. Make in Canada from Canadian, Japanese, and Mexican parts, built by Canadians, transported to the US by Canadians. The CEO is in the US, though!

So, which truck is REALLY an American truck?

And Pedroh.... I know it's hard for you to believe, but some of us "fat a$$" Americans actually use our trucks as trucks....you know, for hauling stuff?

err I didn't say all americans were fat arses, I said big cars will continue in demand because the average obese american doesn't fit in a compact japanese car, and as we know obesity % is going up. I know some people do still use their pick ups and trucks to haul stuff, but according to an interview with one of GM's head honchos, Americans give a ###### for gas mileage, and they still want gas guzzling behemots, and I was making fun that those people are the first to whine.. well, if i dont wanna pay a lot, dont buy a big truck which u dont use to haul, but probably is the only one where u can fit

I'd have to disagree. In many cases, it isn't a matter of the "fat-arsed" American not fitting into the car, it's a matter of the other point you brought up....people not WANTING to drive a little car. Myself, I am a genuine "fat-#######". I've owned a Honda Prelude, a Nissan Sentra, and a Hyundai Excel (big mistake, in that case). I fit in those cars just fine. My friend Blake, who is larger than me (much larger) used to drive a SAAB 900.

By way of defining "fat-#######", I'm 5'11" and weigh around 280 pounds. Blake is 6'4" and weighs around 400.

When I bought my truck (2000), I seriously considered the Toyota Prius as well. I test drove one, and loved it. My concerns, though, were:

1) I had intended to move back to Wyoming. Mountain passes and unpaved roads wouldn't go well with a hybrid.

2) Technology and cost. At the time, next to nothing was known about the Prius, reliability-wise. How much to replace the battery packs? How often would they need replaced? etc.

Recently, I thought about buying a new car. I have my truck and I have an old Volvo at the moment. I drive 70 miles/day to go to work and back. I was looking at the Suzuki Aerio, the Toyota Matrix, Toyota Echo, and the Chevy Aveo (not actually a Chevy....made by Daewoo). I really wanted the Aveo. Financially, though, I just couldn't do it yet. I test drove all of those vehicles though, and didn't have a problem with space.

So, I think the "blame" should be placed where it belongs.....on the owners of the vehicles and what they CHOSE to buy/drive, not on their "fat-arsed-ness".

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

When Seat Belts Don't Come in Plus Sizes

talkin about how big cars and luxury size cars are the only ones big enough to fit big people..

Obesity in U.S. children making it hard fit for mandatory car seats

how they need to change seat sizes for obese kids.. do you think a little Yaris from Toyota or a VW rabbit will have the space for a big kids seat? of course not

and the answer to pay less gas

Americans' obesity adds to extra gasoline consumption. study says

I'll bet that helped their friendship if that's what he knowingly had in mind all along.

I'm not sure I understand, actors who live overseas spending their millions include Madonna, Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and uh, (scratches head), that's about it..............and all of these people are married to citizens of the country they live in, kind of of like yourself.

Californians (I have been one for exactly 13 months) like me who were born and raised by someone who worked on the line at Ford for 35 years care a lot about these things, actually.

Although I would admit unions have some role to play in the current state of the American auto industry, I'm wondering if you know anything about members of the "left wing" UAW -- these are blue collar people who work hard, fly the flag and raise families. People who delivered Reagan and Bush Sr to the White House, yet will probably abandon the GOP because of attitudes like yours.

It honestly amazes me how few anglo-saxon kids I see working in the US.

It would amaze me if there were "anglo-saxon" kids working in the US, seeing as Anglo Saxon culture was specific to Britain during the 4th - 11th centuries (or thereabouts) ;)

Have to LOVE selective editing...

Ain't it grand? :)

In other words, NO we should NOT "leave the people who messed up out future in charge"...why would I want to leave them there when I do not like where they brought us? I also stated that I think under the democrats there will be much improvement in most situations, only a "change".

edit:As in we leap out of the frying pan and into the fire...that is NOT an improvement but a change! :P

Example, Iraq...never should have been there in the first place, too late for that NOW, pulling out completely is not a good option (this is what the Democrats want), staying there as our current plan involves (stay the course) has proven faulty as well.

Your OP led me to believe that you would vote Republican because the Democrats "don't have a plan". I'm glad to see you're thinking for yourself and not amongst the sheeple like Mr. Infidel.

IMHO, if you fsck something up really bad you should be fired, period. And if the next guy fscks up too, fired. This is why Congress switches from one party to the other, cause the party in power becomes complacent and starts doing a shitty job. It's natural and it's good. What I hate are ppl like Mr. Infidel who believe the Democrats will destroy the country, while ignoring the fact that the Republicans have done a pretty good job in that direction already.

Ohh, the liberals! The liberals are coming! They'll legalize gay marriage and allow teenagers to get abortions! They'll apologize & surrender to Al Qaeda! The world will end! :P
