26 weeks = not looking very hard!

It's fun to generalize, isn't it? Shows your level of ignorance on the subject matter but it sure seems fun.

Besides, you remark has nothing to do with the point that was being made. But you probably missed that, too.

The jobs are out there. There seems to be a problem with a lot of peoples attitude and their stance that they would never dare do x jobs. A job is a job. The problem is everyone wants a nice little cubicle job.. The work is there if one wants to do it..

It honestly amazes me how few anglo-saxon kids I see working in the US yet hang out in the malls or cruising around doing stupid ###### with their buddies.. So many parents here teach their kids that hard work simply means getting in college..

ET has a pretty senior Financial Industry job if memory serves. Hardly the result of a "bad attitude" and a desire for a cush "cubicle job". He was responding to a post by Carol&Marc that taking time to secure a permanent job mean't that he was lazy.

I also think the Democrats do not have a reasonable plan for our future at this time.

So we should leave the people who messed up our future in charge?

Who messes up who's future? Wasn't it the democrats who let Bin Laden got to where he is.. How about we taxing hollywood actors and rappers, especially the one's who move overseas with US $$$$...

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Since the US government taxes income earned overseas in excess of $80k, I think that already happens

What about income earned in the US and then taken overseas?

BS that you can get a job in 26 weeks. You don't even have to be highly skilled to have that problem.

Here's an example. One of the primary industries in central and northern Maine is the paper industry. (We have a whole bunch of trees here, you know ;) ) Since it became so expensive to do business in the state of Maine (try the business equipment use tax, for one) and the US imports an increasing amount from Canada, mills have been closing left, right and centre. Now the people at these mills have often worked there for generations; the mill is usually the focal point of the town. When a mill goes down, it's not unusual for it to take the town down with it - certainly the economy goes down the toilet. What do these people do? They're mill workers in towns many miles from the nearest city with work, and no skills to take to those cities. Are they supposed to move their family to somewhere they could get a fast-food job?

Places like Maine are not benefitting from the Bush administration. Stability of manufacturing jobs is critical to the economy, and those jobs are vanishing fast. The Detroit auto industry is one example, Maine's paper industry is another. That's just one sector.

I know that my well-educated, experienced husband commutes to another state because there isn't a teaching OR IT job for him in Maine - how can you say that jobs are growing? Sure, if you look at metropolitan areas where another McDonalds springs up every other day, jobs are growing. If you actually look at the broader picture, it's very different.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

Hey, Infidel has some kind of an excuse for his type of posts: he's not American so it can't be expected that he's informed on our politics. What's your excuse, Marc?

Why not? Margaret Thatcher royally fcuked up the UK, which slid into a recession after she was ousted as Tory leader. She still thinks she did a marvellous job. Enough time has passed that history has proven otherwise.

Have to LOVE selective editing...

I do not like the current situation we are in, fiscally nor internationally.

I also think the Democrats do not have a reasonable plan for our future at this time.

Having had little sleep before writing (stupid pest control...only working during the day...when I SHOULD be sleeping) I SHOULD have written it like this:

I do not like the current situation we are in, domestically nor internationally.

I also think the Democrats do not have a reasonable plan for our future at this time.

In other words, NO we should NOT "leave the people who messed up out future in charge"...why would I want to leave them there when I do not like where they brought us? I also stated that I think under the democrats there will be much improvement in most situations, only a "change".

edit:As in we leap out of the frying pan and into the fire...that is NOT an improvement but a change! :P

Example, Iraq...never should have been there in the first place, too late for that NOW, pulling out completely is not a good option (this is what the Democrats want), staying there as our current plan involves (stay the course) has proven faulty as well.

That will have already been taxed

Yet outsourcing is bad while actors spending millions overseas living the life is good because they paid x dollars in tax in the US..
