Does Previous marriage paperwork need to be original and certified?

For showing our previous marriages are over do we need to have CERTIFIED copies or just copies? In the instructions it says "If either you or your spouse were previously married, submit copies of documents showing that all prior marriages were legally terminated."

You may have to provide the original or certified copy during the Montreal Interview. I think you should obtain a certified copy before the interview to be on the safe side.

You can provide a copy of the certified document, but you will need the original certified document with you at the interview. USCIS has the right to request the original of any copies you have provided for anything at any time.

You just need a one page "Certificate of Divorce" from the county clerk stating that they have reviewed the divorce records between you and your ex and certifies that the two of you are in fact divorced.
