Hello VJ Family!

I know it has been a minute since I have graced the site but I have been busy battling and spending time with my husband overseas. We have flooded the Department of State with tons of evidences and photos of us living together as husband/wife with family and friends. it took them over a year to finally reaffirmed our case!!!! I have gotten so comfortable overseas that I was wondering if we should go ahead with the interview and of course my family and friends snapped me out of my foolishness!

We received word that my husband's interview is scheduled for December 20, 2012 at 12pm. We were a bit sad that it will take over two months because I want to bring my husband home for Christmas and a family member is getting married Saturday after Christmas.

We are happy that they have reaffirmed our case and schedule an appointment less than three months. I am not sure if anyone have been down this road but my husband and I would like to hear some experiences with reaffirmed cases and what to we need to do to prepare. Is it the same as the first interview or do we need to do another medical/fingerprint?

We are confused because we were just only told to show up at the appointment time. Maybe we misread the information? How can I update or start my timeline?

Thank you!

Congrats on the Reaffirmation. The Police Clearance Certificate issued in Nigeria is only valid for three months. The medical reports for six months. I have read on this forum of situations similar to yours, where they attended interviews and were approved for visas but were told this was subject to their presenting fresh medical reports. Why not play safe and get fresh police clearance and medical reports very close to the interview date and have your spouse arm himself with them for the interview. Come to think of it, I remember one or two instances where the VJ members complained that the embassy guys should have informed them to come with fresh medical reports for the interview.

It is good to hear and my sister in-law just got her visa to bring her husband and mother in-law over to USA. She waited five years to do so because her husband didn't want to leave his mother. She has a mental condition since she lost her husband in a violent incident.

We have decided to take the medical exam again at the Children Hospital in Lagos since we are in Oyo state. I have gotten used to Lagos and will feel funny returning home. :D

My husband doesn't want to leave his home but he know I want to see my family for a while and he will not let me go home alone. Thanks!

Thank you so much! We thought it was a bit weird when they didn't mention anything about the medical exam nor police clearance. Last time, they sent us a packet saying that we need to have medical and police clearance before the interview appointment and gave us two weeks. One question though, since the case has ben reaffirmed why are they interviewing my husband again and I was told that I am not allowed to sit in the interview although I am in Lagos with him.

My in-laws want me to stay with them and not go to the Embassy but from the last time my husband sat for long hours and only had 10 minutes interview.

Thank you! Of course I enjoy every bit of it with my husband. If they waited three more years....I would still enjoy it because it is not the country that make the home, it is the love and true union that make the home. We even stayed in the village for a while to take care of the elders. My husband want to raise his children in Naija and visit his family in USA without having to get a visa every time he travels.

He is only dealing with the immigration because of me. He said there is no place like home and his pounded yams. LOL.
