I don't get it. Do I just need a letter from my employer & paystubs? Or not?

The fiancee packet from Juarez says:

12. Proof of Economic Solvency (The petitioner can provide a letter from their current employer, recent check stubs, and current tax

returns. The Affidavit of Support I-864 is not required. (A job offer letter for the beneficiary can also be provided).

BUT....

Under the Portal section for Juarez on Visa Journey it says:

-Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)

So which is it? I need it or I don't?

You do not need the I-864, as it states. That is not used for K-1 interviews. You will need the I-864 later when adjusting status in the US. You need the I-134 along with your supporting financial documents for the K-1 visa interview.

No where does it state though that we have to do the I-134 in the Packet of Material from Juarez. It only says that on Visa Journey.

I know the 864 is for the AOS, I was just copying what it says in the packet directly.

Actually I believe it is mentioned that it could be asked for on the consulate website thats why I decieded to fill out the I-134. Like I said its pretty basic. I would rather have my girl take it to the interview than for tjat to delay thr process due to an overzealous interviewr. Look up the consulate website and read through the whole info on fiancee. Also. Remember the 156K is not on the USCIS but it is used in addrion to the 2 copes of the 156 in Juarez at least thats what I believe from research. Either way 156K is another basick form and rather have than need it.

Yes, it states the I-864 is not needed. And you are correct, it does not state the I-134 is needed. However, they do seem to expect it, so it is best to have it ready along with your other financial documents. It has been a couple years, but there was a case where someone did not take the I-134 and they did ask for it. The info on the VJ Juarez consulate section comes from the Juarez instructions and member's first hand experiences. Better safe than sorry.

Yea understood. Thanks. I just wanted to double & triple check. So lets see, what type of proof of income should I bring? I have an "Employment Certificate" from my boss, last 3 months pay stubs... 3 months worth of Checking & Savings account statement pages. Oh and I have the last pay stub from the job I held until April of this year, showing I earned $20k in the first 4 months of 2012. My current position from May - Current shows a grand total of $12,000 earned so far this year). Should I bring more?

Last years tax return (because I was on unemployment) is under the amount needed. I was on unemployment for like 10 months of the year. I would prefer not to bring that, although I did have $22,000 made, so I would only be about $1000 short. The year before that I think I earned $23,000 but lived in Peru for the first 6 months out of the year. Finally the year before that (2009) I made only $8,500 as I was in Peru living for pretty much the whole year, this was primarily left over commissions from 2008. 2008, 2007, 2006, I made an average of $76,000.

What do you think?

Im bringing the same stuff but also the last 3 years IRS tax transcripts. There are Tax Return Transcripts and Tax Account Transcripts. Im not sure exactly which ones are best but I ordered both since they are free and you can go to the www.IRS.gov and order them online and they take a week to get to you.you just have to male sure you fill in the right address you used that year for each one for each year you are requesting ( in case you moved around). Also Im bringing a print out or statement from the bank of a savings account that I have. It shows when account was open and how long the money has been there where it came from and how much movement there has been to the account (they do this to make sure you are not borrowing the money short term just to meet the requirements) as savings also count toward the threshold of income they are asking to be met. I asked my credit union for a statement for immigration purposes and they already knew what I meant a I got it in 3 business days. If you have any other ideas you think of let me know. Like I said I want the interview to just be an easy part of the process. From the reviews of interviews I have read they are pretty simple as long as you have everything ready for them. They appreciate the easy case as much as we would.

Awesome. When is your appointment?

For this part of me, it seems like this all would be less intrusive. For this visa that is. When you go for the AOS, that's when it is harder, atleast that's what I've been told.

My appointment is in mid October. Wells Fargo should be able to something similar. Ask to speak to a manager. Explain how important it is. The teller is trained to do the minimum. It shouldnt be that hard for them to do. It will take them more than 15 minutes which is why they dont want to do it.

You only need the most recent tax transcript. You want the tax return transcript, not the account one. But, like you said, they are free and you can just keep the account ones for your own records. Also, if you are not using assets to make for a shortcoming in your income, no need for a letter from the bank or bank statements. If you need to prove you have savings or certain income deposits, bank statements will do it.

They will go by your current income, not the past years. Take a letter from your employer and most recent pay stubs to prove your current income. List your current income as what you make hourly multiplied by how many hours you work per week, then multiply that by 52 weeks to get your current annual income. Taking the extra pay stubs from your previous job won't hurt either.

If you are self-employed, they will go by line 22 of your most recent 1040.

Awesome Jay-Kay.....

When you say tax return transcript, are you talking about the 1040? I have a copy of that I can just print out. I did convince the bank to give me a letter saying that I have had an account open with for 18 months and for balance inquiries to view my statements. I don't get paid hourly. I get paid on an annual salary plus bonus. They wrote me a letter only including the base salary, but well enough to cover what I need.

So this is what I will bring:

1. Employment Letter

2. Letter from Bank verifying I have an account

3. 10 months of bank statements (do I really need 12?, I think its overkill. I'm just printing this years statements).

4. Current pay stub, plus last pay stub from previous job (Sprint Store Manager).

5. I-134

6. 1040 for 2011

That's it. So can you confidently say I am covered?

I got an Oct. 11th date. & a no go with WF... just an account verification form from the local branch that is made out to the Consulate and signed by the manager. They said if the bank wants to know the totals that I should bring my statements and let them add it up. Doesn't make sense, you'd think they'd have that access at their fingertips.

Jalos-LongBeach mentioned the transcripts and not knowing if they wanted the tax return or account transcript. They want the tax return transcript. You can get them free from the IRS: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Order-a-Transcript

You need the transcript or a complete copy of your 2011 return, all forms, schedules, attachments, W-2s and/or 1099s. Basically everything you would have sent to the IRS had you been mailing in your taxes. Transcripts are easier. Less papers and no worries about whether or not you included everything.
