Check your phone book under television or satellite television. Many areas will have a limited choice for different companies. Once you figure out which satellite providers are in your area, you can go to their website and see what they have to offer. Dish Network and DirectTV are the two big ones. Unfortunately, it can get a bit pricey.

Dish Network's arabic package

Direct TV's arabic package

I think you have to get a basic package and add on one of these.

My husband gets some channels (al jazeera, and an egyptian channel) streamed free online, but I don't have the addresses on hand. inshaAllah I'll check with him.

Rhama, how is it you know how to find everything??? lol

My husbands ex brother in law has some Arabic channels, so I know you can find it. When I asked my husband if he will want it as well he said no, that he can find it all on the internet.....we shall see....

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Cable seems to be more limited in what they offer. We have Comcast as well, and it's bloody expensive. They just redesigned their website, making it much harder to navigate. We don't have any arabic packages offered in our area that I could find, but in Michigan, they just might.

The downside with this is you need to pay for digital cable (usually around $50), and then add the international package on top of it, which could be another $30 or $40.

If we ever get arabic tv (like when MIL comes to visit in the future), I'm thinkin we'll go for the satellite.

That's the same reason we're sticking with cable at the moment. If you have a phone line though, many of the satellite companies offer deals for DSL internet service. Unfortunately, we don't have a phone line at our apartment (just rely on cellphones), so at the moment, cable is our only option.

Rahma, be sure to post the URL for free streaming Al-Jazeera!

We pay $10 a month for Wadi to get 2M through JumpTV. They have several arabic packages. Seems a little pricy to me for just one channel, but I couldn't find it for less....

Dish Network has the best selection of Arabic channels. International programming is what they specialize in. You don't have to get a basic package to get Arabic channels only, so don't let anyone try to sell you otherwise.

Sorry if this is a repeat... You can check into purchasing a system that picks up free-to-air channels, including a slew of Arabic ones. I don't know how many, if any, are Egyptian channels, though. Legal, and no monthly charge or contract; just the price of the system. Standard disclaimer applies; I haven't used this and I have no affiliation with the company, but this is what I'm researching now for when my fiancé arrives. The stationary FTA system should do it just for the Arabic channels; if you want the free-to-air American ones and some others as well, you'll need the motorized system. This should give you the list of Arabic channels:

This is going to be my next satellite purchase (maybe with tax return inshallah) because it's free (monthly)... It has a Libyan channel :D

What sucks is that I thought for a while that I could actual channels from Egypt/Saudi/etc using it and found out later it is not possible. I miss Nur TV :( I think that's what it's called.
