LOST RFE... HELP

Ok here is my situation: On 08/23 I got an RFE letter mailed to me. I never recieved the letter. Called USCIS 15 days later, they re-sent the letter and I provided my address to them again.

It has now been 14 days, and I haven't gotten the 2nd letter. I called USCIS and spoke to a supervisor, and she gave me the e-mail to CSC and told me they could send me the RFE as an attachment. I e-mailed them on Monday 09/17 and still have not yet received a response.

Yesterday I got a text that my case was updated, and when I logged on I saw that the letter was returned to USCIS as "undeliverable".

Today I called USCIS back and I was told that CSC can take 30 days to respond to an e-mail (30 days for an email?!!!) and that they don't have a phone number, and that my other option as to make an InfoPass appointment and go to the my local office to see if CSC can fax them the letter. Interestingly enough, the first supervisor I spoke with told me I COULDNT go to my local center because my case is being handled in CSC. I asked for my local center's phone number (since it isn't listed anywhere) so I could at least call to make sure they can do that before I take off work, drive an hour away and then find out they can't do anything. BUT of course, they don't have a phone number either!!!

I am SOOOO frustrated. I have now been waiting 30 days (apparently I only have 80 days to respond to this RFE). NO ONE can tell me what this RFE is about except CSC- yet I can't get ahold of anyone in CSC.

Also I would like to note that it is NOT a problem from my post office. I have lived at this address for many years, and I have received other letters from USCIS, such as my NOA1 with out any problem.

What the heck am I supposed to do?!!

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice

They lost my letter too!! They "send it" on 9/8, called twice, they don't want to acknowledge that they lost it and told me to wait 15 days (that will be on Monday) to call again, verify some info and re send it.

Make an infopass, I already did. Talk to them, tell them that you are not getting the RFE and "demand" they fax it there

Best of luck!

Unfortunately my local office is 1 hour away, and they are only open from 7:00-2:45 PM which just so happens to be during my work hours (I am a teacher), and they are also closed on the weekends. Really annoying. I also don't want to take the chance of making the InfoPass appointment, taking the time off work, then getting there and have them tell me they can't do anything because my case is being processed via CSC. Which is why I requested to at least CALL them first, but no, I can't even do that.

It may be a bit different for you since you are doing AOS and I am still in the I-130 process.

  • 8 months later...

Hi everybody,

Just to tell my similar story, I got the same problem. I knew I got an RFE issued and sent through the online notification system but I never received it in the mail... After waiting for 14 days, I called USCIS and did a service request, the checked my mailing address and everything but I still never received anything. Two weeks later after reading many different forums, being worried everyday and still not understanding what was happening, I took an Infopass appointment at the local USCIS office. Over there, the immigration officer was very nice and understanding, she contacted the national USCIS center where my case was processed at Lee's Summit, MO and after about 20 minutes waiting, she received the RFE by fax and handed it to me. It was just a missing copy of the certificate of marriage in my I-485 package (for marriage-based adjustment of status and to be more precise I think only the copy of the marriage license was missing..).
In the end, I never received the RFE by mail but they received my answer about a week later and my case got processed (and approved!)

So never get desperate, there is always a way through!

ps: I received all other documents/cards/notice in my mail, the RFE was the only letter that never arrived, which makes me think they never sent it... so don't hesitate to take an Infopass appointment.
