Hey Guys,

I am trying to get PCC certificate for my wife from Indian Passport office and i was told by someone ,when you apply for PCC and if your current status is Married you will be required to update the passport with spouse name added to it and it could delay the process. Or they just ignore it and provide the PCC. anyone experienced the same or i am just worrying for no reason.

Passport has to be updated with spouse name before applying for PCC. There are few ppl on VJ who were lucky to get it done without updating spouse name, but no need to take chances.

It depends on RPO person at that time. In our case they didn't seem to care and issued the RPO PCC. The content of PCC is what matter, make sure there are no typo's in NAME, DOB and most importantly the passport #.

It all depend up to the official. I got the PCC without updating spouse name in my passport, but I filled the spouse name in PCC application.

You can try to get PCC without spouse name if you want. Else you can consider to update spouse name.

Yes...make it done...Your wife will be interviewed here in India not in USA. So, please be ready with everything. They do not give you chance to speak out the reason.

PCC for passport office is the only PCC NVC wants or needs PCC from local police stations? Applicant is from India and she never stayed out of state. Please advice.

My wife had same situation. She was told to get local PCC before the Passport office can issue PCC. Not sure if your wife is from Gujarat, but unfortuantely, this whole PCC thing is a huge headache in Ahmedabad and Baroda. :bonk: They strictly refuse to issue PCC without seeing "PCC Checklist" letter from US, which refers to letter sent by NVC if your DS-230 packet is deficient (i.e. lacking PCC). Eventually we got both to be on the safe side and submitted both (local and Passport office PCC) with DS-230 packet.

I would suggest to get both to avoid any problems later.

When you all are talking about adding the "spouse name" to the passport before getting the PCC, are you just saying that the wife's last name should be updated to the married surname, or are you saying that on her passport, they will actually write my (the husband's) name as well??

Thanks!

There is a column to add "Spouse's name" on the inside backcover page in the passport. Thats where the spouse is name is added.

In our case, I asked my wife to keep her last name as such and we never changed. So adding spouse name is just adding his/her name in the specified column in the passport.

When you all are talking about adding the "spouse name" to the passport before getting the PCC, are you just saying that the wife's last name should be updated to the married surname, or are you saying that on her passport, they will actually write my (the husband's) name as well??

Thanks!
