They give you a letter saying you have applied and will get the card in a few days. It takes a week or two. Your fiance can file alone.

It would be pushing it to do it before 2 weeks but you could try. The I-94 only expires on the date it says, marriage does not play into it.

No, nothing voids the i94 unless you do something that'll put an end to your lawful stay. Anyways, sometimes, if getting married before applying for ssn, the SSA are stubbon about even giving you ssn and telling you that you aren't eligible. And less than 14 days until the i94 expires, SSA will not assign you ssn. This might be what you were thinking of?

2 weeks.. For some people it takes less time to have their info entered into the database, for some it takes longer. The thing is, if you go before all the info is there and you let SSA manually wait/pull your info, it can take a bunch load of time to get ssn. If you go too early and they can't see the name in their system, politely yoink your application back and come back in some days and apply over again.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

i thought at the time they assign an ssn but i guess for us to know the right ssn is to get the actual card...my fiance has a lot of time in his hand to go back and forth to inquire lol to make him busy and avoid getting bored lol

yes i was worried if we marry they will void the I-94...i kind of read that somewhere here in vj forum..we don't want that problem lol

thanks dear
