September 2012 AOS Filers

I just got my interview notice yesterday for 2/12, and my biometrics was 10/12, and received my EAD on 11/24. So it's a slow old process for some of us. :-( Very discouraging when you see people who filed months after you get interviews, get approved and get their GC before you even get your interview date. :-(

Congrats...hope all goes well for you.

Have our interview finally on Wednesday. This has been a long road. Wasn't expecting it to take this long.

 Congrats..!!

I'm a September filer too. USCIS received AOS/EAD/AP applications on 1st September 2012, I received and replied to an RFE for AOS and this was received by USCIS 28th September 2012. My EAD/AP were approved 31st October and they arrived about 2 weeks later.

I called USCIS last week (this is a painfully slow call with the person reading from a script most of the time). They said I should have received a response within 60 days and has sent a request for action to the NBC. Im still waiting for a response to this. However, another person here in Utah in the same situation went to an info pass appointment and they were told most K1 to AOS applicants won't be getting interviews and the application will be forwarded to the CSC eventually, processed and the GC sent within 6-9 months from the filing date.

Then I was pointed toward this notice, stating that applications filed after 1st August 2012 will remain at the NBC, processed and GC sent from there, unless you are chosen for interview:

"Interview-Waivable Family-Based I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

Interview Waivable cases are family-based I-485s which USCIS has determined can be adjudicated without an interview. In the past, the NBC completed pre-processing of these cases and then transferred them to the California Service Center for adjudication. On Aug. 1, 2012, the NBC started to retain these cases for adjudication."

In short, it seems unless one of us is chosen for interview or really require an interview, it's just going to be a long waiting game...

It is true that cases are no longer transfered to CSC. Perhaps this means that cases staying at NBC for processing (the "no interview" cases) will get a GC in 6-9 months from filing. I'd be happy with that as we heading into the 5th month and no word on interview or anything else beyond the EAD (happily received).

yes.gif Yes, it is true. I've been thinking this could be our case as well.

I'm at ease now, because they sent me a letter confirming the address change (that I did 10 day ago) and they had already updated this information on the USCIS website. So, at least, I know with certainty that all mail should arrive to our new home and won't get lost in limbo and causing problems.

I have a feeling that my USCIS office (Kansas City) will not review the case until March.

mgarcia4 - We are at the kansas city office too and I was thinking the same thing! I saw somewhere (and I can't find the link now) that kansas city was just now processing AOS from July 28. I wish I would stop worrying about it - Its not like the green card in hand is going to make a difference at this point. I think I just want to be done waiting and wondering if we have submitted everything correctly and that nothing has gotten lost, etc. Too bad they couldn't post a little smiley face update on the website saying - don't worry - its all good - we will get to your application in ___ days :)))))))

You are right agrabs... I know I feel that way. I just want to get it over with and not have to worry about paperwork for a few months. According to the USCIS site, the Baltimore office is processing cases from June 18th..... so we'll see.

My favorite part of this whole thing is when i'm reading other threads that ask how long AOS takes and people routinely answer 3 months. Of course I feel compelled to reply that is not true ....

Haha, same here!

My local office is processing June 24th applications... I'm crossing my fingers and toes that August filers start getting their GC from the NBC soon! Or else we'll definitely be waiting for a long long time...

It seems that the Kansas City office is processing August cases now. One more month.

Perhaps soon we will all be on the other side of the interview and throwing up balloons. Let's hope. It has been a long while.
