OMG - I will be very bitter if we have an interview after waiting this long. Like you said - I don't have a problem with being interviewed - but not after waiting almost 10months

I received the following response from the Ombudsman's office:

A check of USCIS systems shows that the file in question was transferred from the National Benefits Center (NBC) to the Hialeah Field Office on June 6, 2013. It will take a few days for the file to reach the field office and be received in for interview processing. You and the petitioner should be receiving an interview notice with date and time of their interview within the next thirty (30) days. If you don't receive the notice you should make an InfoPass appointment at that office.

What this mean.? Are they serious about this, after 9 months wait they are going to take interview, We don't have any problem, me and my wife ready for interview too. I filed In. sept.10/2012.

Thanks,

Dr.kunal

Just thinking about this and.....

Up until August - files were being transferred to CSC. August was the first month that NBC has processed since files stopped being transferred ( and they are not being processed very quickly), so.... this makes me wonder if NBC has now decided to start shipping files off to local offices to relieve some of their work load?

Not saying this in a bad way but we should be working with facts, not hypothesis, otherwise you can go crazy about it.

We just have to wait a ¨little bit more more more more¨.....until someone from September starts posting than they have already been processed and go from there seeing what the tendency is... I believe by beginning of next week we should start seeing posted some updates from September AOS filers.

While some people may only prefer "the facts only" - for other people it helps to be able to chat about the "I wonder if's..." For me it helps with the stress and long wait to participate in conversations both factual and hypothetical. As far as I know - that is allowed here on Visa Journey. I specifically phrased it as Just thinking and wondering so as not to mislead anyone

No not yet. On Thursday it will be 15 days.

I haven't read agrabs story yet - I'm afraid to :s We would like to go back to England in December. My husband's passport is set to expire this month but he doesn't want to renew for fear that it will get lost as his K-1 Visa stamp is in it. So now we are forced to wait it out. Ugh - this is so frustrating!!!!

Welcome to world of immigration. They are frustrating the hell out of us all. What you can do is make several copies of your husbands K1 visa and passport detail then try to renew the passport. If anything happens you'll have proof.

I'm a little leery about making copies. With our luck, the copies won't suffice if we needed the originals for whatever reason and they're stuck at the UK passport office. But we shall see. My husband is going to make another service call to see what they can do for him (ha - had to laugh as I typed that last line...).

Renewing is free? Awesome! Can you point me toward information on how to do it free? When I was going through the renewal documents, it said i had to pay to renew. I might be looking at the wrong form...

I'm hoping it's not 9-12 months more. I've seen a few timelines on here which put GCs into the 9-12months total for processing. I'm hoping that is the worst case scenario. From the date they received the RFE docs from us (just another copy of our sponsor's passport page), 28th September 2012, that puts us at the 8 month and a bit mark. We're hoping that it will arrive some time between now and October 30th, which is when my work auth expires. but we want to be safe and renew as I'm the main income earner at the moment. Can't afford to not work!

Hi Narikta,

Yes renewing is free. You send in a copy of the NOA1 on the I485 and fill in the paper based EAD and AP forms and mail them in. You also need to copy the front and back of the EAD, I think. Also you should file straight away. They accept renewal applications 120 days prior to expiration (I think you qualify as of today).

Hope that helps.

Ugh - not to sound whiny or anything (or I guess it will sound that way) - but I can't believe people who filed after September (most notably 2 months ago) are already getting their interviews and GCs. What gives? That's it. I'm writing my congressmen. Probably won't do a damn thing but this is beyond ridiculous!

By the way - my husband called USCIS again since it's been 15 days (USCIS said we should hear something in 15 days after our last service call) - and they told him that we need to wait 30 days before they can inquire the local office again. But they did tell us we essentially didn't need the visa any longer since we're past that point in the process. So I think it'd be safe to make the copies and renew his passport.

Someone who filed in February got their GC without an interview a few days ago.

NBC, the whole USCIS thing is messed up. We do it the legal way, pay thousands of dollars and still have to wait years after deciding to get married before getting settled down, (legally), and with status. Sigh.

If anyone doing service requests sees improvement, perhaps I'll do the same. I still feel like it's a bloody waste of time, unfortunately.

Keeping my toes crossed that July is our month!

I am checking your topic guys as I am an October filer.

I know 2 people from nov/dec that already got their Gc weeks ago (april/march) after having an interview.

I am not sure how the whole thing works. I guess no one really knows.

Are the applications that weren't chosen for an interview processed somewhere else (NBC, local field off)

Our local field off is processing November already but since I didn't recieve any letter about it being transferred there i don't think I should keep checking that? Any idea about where the petitions are?

Thanks

We called USCIS and submitted a service request. They said that if we did not receive the response in 15 days to call them. We did not so we called them. They informed us that the local offices are falling behind with processing cases. She thus suggested we give them 30 extra days to respond.

So,yes, they are definitely falling behind...not sure why that is happening though
