When minimum reaps a person just over 10g's per year at full time - below the poverty level, while corporate profits such as Exxon are higher percentage wise than ever before in history, some are being denied the American Dream.

If minimum reaps them that much, that's how much they're worth.

They'd be worth a lot more if they had any skills.

Really? Walmart executives prefer their employees draw on medicaid because it's cheaper for them. Who's looking out for the American worker? Who should look out for the worker?

In a perfect world, we'd have a country full of businesses that were all competing not only for your business but also for your labor. Corporations in this country have completely underminded true competition. If you're pro-capitalism then your for competition, right? And without competition, what do you call it?

Who should look out for the American worker? Why do they need someone to look out for them? I don't need anybody to look out for me. Why does someone willingly agree to work for minimum wage? It must be because they don't have the skills or education to earn more. Hence they should go back to school and make themselves a more attractive hire.

It's ok by me if you advocate socialism. But why pretend then that you are not a socialist?

By the way I worked at Wal Mart for a 2nd job awhile back and they started me out at $7.50 an hour. I believe thats $2.25 an hour over minimum wage. They also had awesome medical and dental avaiable to their full time employees for about $30 a month w/no co pay (6 years ago anyway).

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will have food for life.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

What's your definition of success? Bilking people of their money? As much as you keep wanting to paint this as envy, it's about paying people what they are worth. If a company is largely successfull financially, it didn't happen single-handedly by the CEO, but from all the hard work of every employee. So because a CEO is head of the company, he's entitled to take as much as the board is willing to give him? And most often those boards are stacked in favor of the CEO. It's a broken system and it needs to be fixed. Let's bring back better regulations to keep corporate power in check. Let's reward Americans for their hard work.

In an ideal world - workers would be the company, each owning a piece of the company. That would solve a lot of these issues.

Oil companies profit from a diminishing global resource that fuels the western consumer society.

Should we wish (as a society) to continue to enjoy a similar lifestyle beyond the end of fossil fuels requires that an alternative (or several alternative) cheap fuels are developed/discovered/harnessed.

Some people, rightly or wrongly, believe that the research and development of these alternative energy sources should be more or less funded by the profits from the oil companies.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Nonsense. Top execs carry home seven figures whether the companies they work for do well or not. They go home with 7-8 figure comp packages even if they run their companies into the ground. They increase their packages while asking the bancruptcy courts to slash the compensation of the staff. They're not the most successful people. They're members of an elite clan that stuffs each other's pockets as they sit on each other's boards signing off on these ridiculous comp packages for one another.

Did the oil companies 'invent' oil, giving them some kind of 'rights' to this product?

Is oil equally distributed around the world giving all countries/people the same opportunity of profit?

Yes, life is unfair, agreed, but surely what makes us humane is our desire to protect the vulnerable? If this society truly is dog eat dog, then there is no room for deformity, fragility or weakness.

If they drive their company into ruin, they will be replaced fairly quickly.

Unless and until that happens, they are entitled to their compensation and perks.
