I've got plenty, Marc, but thank you. :star: How about you and I pull for our brothers and sisters out there working hard that aren't getting paid what they are worth? How about we make the American Dream real for every American? Let's share the pie. There's enough for everyone, right?

How much of your pie are you sharing?

Yeah, so? What are they supposed to give gasoline away? How much tax will they pay on income?

At a town hall meeting in Ohio last Saturday, Representative Sherrod Brown of Ohio, a staunch advocate for social and economic rights--he and Bernie Sanders are the two best candidates running for Senate in 2006--railed against stagnant wages' contribution to economic hardship. "It is unacceptable that someone can work full-time--and work hard--and not be able to lift their family out of poverty." He blasted a system where a full-time worker making the minimum wage earns $10,500 annually, while "last year the CEO of Wal-Mart earned $3,500 an hour. The CEO of Halliburton earned about $8,300 an hour. And the CEO of ExxonMobil earned about $13,700 an hour."

If you can bilk Joe American at the pump and keep his wage low, why not?

Yeah Bernie Sanders the Socialist, I'm sure I want him running things.

You're right - it's better to let CEO's hord all the profits. They worked hard and deserve all the hording they can do.

Steve I think you need a little PROFIT in your life. :P

Im perfectly happy to Steve, I can pull for my fellow citizens out there, but the bottom line is its up to them !also I cannot judge what anyone is worth it depends on the person doing the judging! you also can be part of any company out there, just buy their stock.

Is buying gas a real choice for most Americans who depend on a car for transportation? I'm right with you on choices - as long as people have real choices. Corporations have underminded choice and in turn, the American Dream. Let's bring back choices and then let the chips fall as the will. Let's stop pandering to the corporate control over our economy and public policies.

We should start by building adequate public transportation. I cannot believe the cost to travel on Amtrac.. It's actually cheaper to fly to many destinations... probably cheaper to catch a cab...

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I get pissed too when I fill up my tank, but to get pissed at "BIG OIL" does nothing! Oil is traded on the open market, there are hundreds of guys/gals in the trading pits buying and selling oil contracts based on news and speculation! the oil companies have no control over the price. Look at the guys that started google couple of young guys had a great Idea, put it into action, BAM! success, geez Im happy as hell for them they are my brothers and sisters too. Steve the pie is always out there just go get you some and enjoy the journey!

Guy that sits across from me at work doesn't not own a card and takes the bus where ever he goes and he can afford a car. People (me included) want a car because they don't want the hassle of taking the bus or subway, so in most cases there is a choice.

So at what point is a salary undeserved? To someone you make more than enough.....so does that mean you don't deserve yours?

Damn right dude. Let it go. The boys deserve it. They are working hard for big oil, drilling all

over the world and fighting wars in the Middle East to ensure the steady flow of much needed

black gold from some of the most dangerous places on earth.

Let's share the pie. There's enough for everyone, right?

Let's not. Vladimir Lenin had the same brilliant idea back in 1917, didn't really work.

Lenin's got nothing to do with it. The pie is metaphor for the American Dream. The American Dream cannot be reality to only some Americans unless it is a reality to all. It's about opportunity - gettng ahead in life through hard work.

oh, how i wish i were a ceo for exxon... LOL!!! i believe that most people are upset because at the present we are heavily dependent on gas and to hick up prices above a tolerable or fair amount yielding in obscene profit margins on a necessary resource appears to be unethical or at worse questionable.

The American Dream is an option for all.....all those who want to work hard, get an education, and make something of themselves.
