Hello,

Hopefully I will be on this board more since I am going through the Visa process now. My question is, will the agency looking at our I-130 form check things like facebook? Even though we our married and have the certificate, we still have each other listed as "engaged to" on facebook. This is simply because we want to have a church ceremony once the Visa is done and we can actually be together for good :) Would something like this be a problem? Thank you.

Word is they are checking sites such as Facebook...which totally sucks imo.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

The certificate is what they want to see. Facebook can only confuse them and may lead to questions during the interview. Why anyone would want to confuse USCIS and the Embassy is beyond me; personally I'd want to keep it as simple and straight-forward as possible....but that's just me.....for us I placed successfully getting through the process as top priority and gave little attention to other "issues" and did nothing to "create" issues.

USCIS will probably not look at Facebook. Consulates do sometimes but Kiev is not particularly known for that. However, this is an official process and there HAVE been problems so anything reported in publically available format should be accurate.
