Naturalization Interview requirements

Hello,

I am wondering if it is required for me to have my passport for my naturalization interview? I recently sent my passport off in the mail to be renewed so I doubt that I will have it back in time.

Does anyone know whether or not I will be required to present my passport during the interview?

If so... I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

Thanks in advance :)

If I could piggyback on this too...... just trying to plan ahead.

I've applied under the 3 year rule. Does my wife HAVE to accompany me to the interview?

Indeed, even if she does accompany me, will she likely be called into the actual interview room, or will she spend the entire time in the waiting area?

We have a toddler who's world is dominated by inflexible nap times - and melts down if she's not at home, in her crib, at set times of day. If all three of us have to drive down to Centennial and attend, it's going to get very messy.

The following documents are a must at the naturalization interview

  1. Interview letter
  2. Passport
  3. Driver's License

It is advisable that you take all that has been mentioned on the letter that you received.

They certainly asked to see both my passports, to verify my travel history, despite me not having left the USA since arriving on the IR-1 visa.

Wife will not be allowed intro the interview with you, and does not need to sit outside either- this is a much easier interview than for the spousal visa :) My USC husband stayed home with our kids too (it's a 4 hour round trip to the "local" USCIS office here), and I wasn't even asked about it.

The only two things they asked me for last week were passport and Greencard. They process passports really quickly, so yours may be back in time!

my IO never asked for my passport only my drivers license and GC.. he was a filipino like me so all we did was talk about back home.. when was the last time we've both been there? etc.etc.... on the interview itself, he asked me just 6 questions which i got right, told me to write something down and that was it.. then it was back to small chitchat about my flying career here and back home.. i didn't bring my wife.. what for?.. she is not being interviewed.. also, i applied 5 yrs after being married using "USC marriage" instead of my 5 yr. residency..

My husband had his interview yesterday. They asked for his greencard and driver's license. He had his expired greencard with him as well, the agent kept that one and gave him back his valid card. He took his passport with him but they didn't look at it. I went with him and sat in the waiting area the whole time, but I was not required to be there. Good luck with everything! :)
