I noticed that many people on this forum have had the frustrating experience of not hearing from the NVC for a while after the I-130 is approved and transferred to them. Just wanted to share what we did and had a positive experience with.

After our case was transferred we didn't hear from NVC although USCIS told my husband (the petitioner) we should hear back within a week. Someone advised him to contact his local Congress representative and file a complaint. I think he both called his Congressman's office and sent a written complaint/appeal by email. Our NVC case number was assigned two days later (got it over the phone).

Point is that the petitioner should not hesitate to contact their Congressman/Congresswoman's office if a stage of the visa process has exceeded the normal time/amount of time they say it should it take.

Also during the I-130 process feel free to schedule an appointment with your local USCIS office and get an in person update on your application. Although they say it doesn't expedite on your application, I think it does have some bearing on it since our case was approved 5 business days later. Not denying this could have been a coincidence, but there is no harm in trying.

Hi- My I-130 was approved on Sept. 5th and Called NVC everyday and was told to wait 15 business days before they recieved it...I ignored them continued calling them and got it on the Sept 13. Since then I have submitted my ds3032 and gathering all my paperwork. :) So I would say keep calling them. NVC was annoyed I called them each day and hated telling me that call after a week or two... :) oh well...If I can wait on hold for 20-30 minutes, they can tell me whether my case is there or not... :)

Life is great...:)
