Are there many others in your situation? I've seen the post but haven't read it all. Any idea of a timeline going by others approvals?

over 100 files like yours in just one district office? They don't think that this should be some kind of a signal to them that something's messed up with the system? I mean seriously, why does it take SO long to get the security checks done? They had to do them before he came here in the first place, so it seems like the second time around should be easier.

Rebecca, I can't imagine what you and Wes are going through with being so close to the end, yet they're dangling you by a thread. I hope they hurry up and issue the greencard soon. (F)

hey you two I know where your coming from and Reb you know where I am, still waiting for interview .

but 2yrs for an interview that must be some sort of an unwanted record,

Reb as I said before about the omnibusman getting to know all of this, and you being 1 of the senior members with a way with words, how about you starting a new thread informing all who feel aggrieved to write to him (omnibusman)

Regards Scotty

*shakes head*

The 'check' done for the K1 is cursory at best, plus it is done by DOS. This one is done by the FBI and at least from my perspective, it's their processes and not USCIS's processes that grind this down. At least that holds true in the case of USCIS offices like ours (Pittsburgh) which seems to be organized and keeps an eye on 'people like us' so that our cases don't get buried on a desk once the FBI finally does get their work done.

Last week someone posted that their District Office has over 1000 cases in namecheck limbo. I don't remember which office that was.

Reb as I said before about the omnibusman getting to know all of this, and you being 1 of the senior members with a way with words, how about you starting a new thread informing all who feel aggrieved to write to him (omnibusman)

Scotty, are you trying to get me in trouble? LOL

Seriously, what are you suggesting. Individual letters? A petition?

Rebecca, I'm sure you are beyond frustration right now with the long wait. I really hope and pray they'll end your case soon.

Best,

Vanessa

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008

Hi Rebeccajo,

I looked at your timeline. You've been waiting ridiculously long for the interview. I truly hope that they'd seriously handle your case and approve it asap. Find a senator or congressman... I haven't tried that yet but I heard that it helps.

Best wishes and good luck!

Thanks sleepybears. But we've been interviewed. Almost 8 months ago. What we don't have yet is FBI security clearance in order for them to issue the greencard.

I've tried the senatorial route. They have inquired about the case, say everything is in place, but there is nothing they can do to budge the FBI. Not within the Senator's scope of authority.

I know this must be frustrating. I am sure you read the Ombudsmans report to congress. They blamed all of their problems on the FBI for the slow name checks. I am sure if you could find the FBI's answer to that report they would have somebody to blame also.

Unfortunately Americas answer to Sept 11th was to run the names of everybody in the world through a computer. As the names flow the list of suspicious names grow each day. I wonder how many terrorists are actually apprehended thanks to these computer name checks.

I don't have the answer but I know that what they are doing is not working.

The only thing I can say is that you have waited so long that surely they must be close to completing this process.

There is no real advice that anybody can lend. Unfortunately there are no alternatives. You have no choice but to wait.

Our hearts go out to you. We certainly understand the frustration!!

I thought I had read on one of these forums that someone could contact the FBI directly to ask if they had completed a name check, and found out that the FBI hadn't even received the name check request yet. I think it was for a K-2 child and they were able to rock the boat to get the name check request submitted and approved. I don't recall the name:-(. Perhaps it is time to try and contact the FBI directly to ask about the status of the name check.

Me, I would probably be at the stage of writing a letter every single day and mailing it to USCIS asking them if they have received the completed security check yet. The squeaky wheel sometimes gets the grease. Don't know if it would do any good, but it would feel like I was doing something.

I hope you hear something good very soon.

Thanks Kathryn.

You can phone the FBI but all they can tell you is if they have run the prints and returned them to USCIS. I've made that call and the prints were done in December 05.

What's really incredibly frustrating about our case is that we are in the hands of a district office that is not swamped with files and is organized and efficient. I know without a shadow of a doubt that our file is not lying on someones desk in Pittsburgh, lost in a heap. They even have a clerk who phones 'the powers that be' (whoever that is) on a weekly basis to inquire about the status of their customers (yes USCIS refers to us as customers) whose name check is still incomplete.

I am 100 percent certain that our case is stuck at the FBI. Not at USCIS. And that seems to be a black hole into which no one, not even a senator, can reach.

You are correct Rebecca this is just like the AP and no one can expedite it and they will not divulge any information to you until they are finished with all checks.
