Every single Obama supporter I know is employed, pays their taxes, and takes care of their families. I've yet to meet one of these "victims".

You can't know many Obama supporters or you run with the rich elite Obama crowd

I certainly don't know any rich, elite people.

I know people my age (late 20's) and late 30s who have a job (sometimes more than one), a car, a house, maybe some kids. Average people. And they're all Obama supporters.

I only actually know of one Romney supporter, and they're my eldery neighbors. The kind that leave their homemade nativity scene on the lawn all year round.

I would go out on a limb and say that everyone who pays taxes in this country would be more than happy to be at the 13% bracket in which Romney is... I know I would love to pay only 13% in taxes...

I think your limb just broke off.

I make a very good salary (low six figures), and I paid an effective Federal rate of 8.3%. If I paid 13% I would either handle my money differently or fire my accountant. Remember, we are are talking federal income tax here.

I would be very happy paying 13% and I know a lot of people who would too... Maybe we should all move our money to off-shore accounts...

Does that 8.3% include the currently reduced SSI tax of 4.2% on the first $106,800.00 and Medicare's 1.45% tax? Because, for a low six figure income, these two taxes alone would come to roughly 5.5%. If you haven't included them, then you'd actually have paid an effective federal tax rate of 13.8% which would be right there in Mitt's territory. Once the payroll tax holiday expires, the 5.5% turn into 7.5% and your effective tax rate would surpass that of a man who rakes in 250 times your income.

You'd be wrong, because the average effective rate for most Americans is less than 13%.

You are not going to convince anybody, because Americans suck at Math (and evidently, teaching).

Take your 1040, the values in Box 22 (Total Income) and Box 61 (Total Tax).

Divide Total Income by Total Tax.

Report your findings.

I would use line 55, unless you want to include self-employment tax, etc. My self-employment tax alone gets me to 14.3% well, 92% of 14.3%.

I want to count everything (total taxes owed) vs total income. If "Gegel" is not self-employed, his self-employment tax will be zero.
