We learned about this yesterday after making a 3 1/2 hour trip to Mumbai to file our documents with VFS. UGH.

I've attached the letter that they gave us.

Apparently, the VFS in Mumbai will be moving from their current location to the building at the US Embassy. From now on, they will process the documents on the DAY OF the interview and not before.

There's good and bad in this, one that it's only one trip for people not living in Mumbai to make now...however there is no time to review case documents either.

True. It is convenient as the process has been simplified but the question is will they take extra time after the interview to review our docs? If so that will definitely eat up our time to receive passport.

guys i think i will have my interview in coming 1 or 2 months.

i just saw that usa change process for visa application from 26th sept.now applicants have to make profile on website

i read pdf file and info on delhi consulate website also..

but i m bit confused , applicants used to submit there document like new ds-230 , birth certi , passport copies ,photos , medical reports, pcc, and courior fees( approx 400) at vfs office prior to their interview date(4-7 days before )

so now we have to carry all document at consulate ???

and what about courier fees?

now what is role of vfs in process ? and do we have to submit anything at vfs ?

m confused , plz share if anybody gone through this process

I consider this process as a better and simpler process. US Consulate did not had VFS in picture several years ago in late 90's and early 2000's. VFS just adds nothing else but only more overhead to the process.

Immigration visa interview appointments will be scheduled by NVC only.

These changes are applicable only to Mumbai consulate.

Dear Rok and SAC

This changes are only for Mumbai at this point. New delhi Counslate still using old process. My wife have an upcoming Interview in OCT. I already called Delhi Consulate and VFS and they said no changes for New Delhi yet. My wife will be going to VFS next week and I will let you know what is going on. I was confused but Making a call to them make me feel little comfortable. Please call to Delhi consulate and VFS you might feel better about this process. I hope this helps

You have to still Submit Courier fees to VFS.

Submit the document to VFS if you did submit to NVC like medical report, copy of the passport, photographs, marrige certificate copy, birth certificate copy etc.

I will keep you guys updated and if you guys found anything about Delhi consulate please share. I check New delhi consulate website 10 time a day to look for any changes. I am going nuts

hi everyone my interview is next month nov2012 at us embassy new delhi cr1/ir1 i am very much confuse related to process can anyone plz help me out what is new process is all about like do i have to carry all my docs at embassy or can i submit to vfs so that embassy can review it before my interview and if my visa is approved how will i get my stamped visa passport do i have to submit my courier at vfs or embassy takes it after the interview aor if they takes it do they accept cash or cheque

You cannot submit your document to VFS no more so please hand carry all the docs to New Delhi consulate. Register to UStravel.docs website for document delivery address. After an Interview you would know if your visa are issue or not. I assume it would so Embassy would keep your passport and send it to your desired location which you provide while registering to the website i mentioned above. You do not have to submit anything because after 26th delivery of passport is free. No checks accepted at the embassy. I hope you already submitted all the required fees if not have dd ready for the right amount or Dollars. I hope this helps. good luck

thank you very much for the information and plz one more thing do i have to carry x ray as well with me at the embassy at the time of interview or does it require at the time of poe thanks
