If you think you are middle class, you probably are not. If you don't own the house you live in and the land it sits on, you probably are not middle class. If you own a business, you probably are in the middle class. Being middle class is not necessarily a number. Being middle class means you have an economic stake in the community you live in. If you have enough money to own that community, you are not middle class. If everything you actually own can be easily moved or sold in a weekend, you are probably not middle class.

Both are so far out of touch from the real world, I doubt that either one would know a middle-class person if one ran them over.
