CR1 & in America, but no clarification w/ NOA & Welcome

My husband now has a CR1 (conditional permenant resident visa), and he's in America now ; however, after 10 days (like customes said) he received a welcome w/ confusing, useless info. and no SS# as requested or card that says he can get it. It does say he may have to wait up to 60 days to receive more info. We need to get him a job and can't until we have a SS# . Does anyone have any info about what is going on or if you can shed some light about the process for the next 6 months...would really appreciate it!

It can take 30 - 60 days to receive both the green card and the social security card in the mail after entry to the US on an immigrant visa, assuming that you checked the box during the immigrant visa application process to apply for a social security number.

USCIS does not issue the Social Security card. That comes from another government agency. USCIS transmits the info to the Social Security Administration.

As stated in the prior post, if you checked the box to have a SSN issued that will come separately. If you did not check that box, then your spouse must go and apply for a Social Security card.

We went to the social security office an got his card by the middle of the other week.

We went into the social security office. They say 7 to 10 days but it was just under a week and it came in the mail.
