This is weird because we have lots of chocolate eggs and easter bunnies. When I was a child we painted eggs, had egg hunts, rolled easter eggs and had easter baskets with big chocolate rabbits in it.

Now I haven't spent Easter in the US for years, but I can't believe its changed. I know my niece does the same things I did. And Lent hasn't even started yet, so don't be too surprised if they're not in the shops yet!

NOTHING beats Cadbury but...............growing up we always had baskets filled with a huge chocolate egg/bunny and tons of other candy.

My parents went crazy.............then they hid eggs all over. God I miss being a kid :(

I have an interesting Easter story... if you guys don't mind me sharing it here.

My sister and I had our children just 2 months apart... that is to help explain the story.

When our kids were old enough to hunt for Easter Eggs (they were both 2 yrs old), we hid the eggs around the yard, the house, the trees, etc. So, we got both of the kids and their baskets and the trusty camera... and we began hunting easter eggs. Her daughter would find an egg and reach wayyyyyyy through the handle of the basket to put the egg in her basket... and it would fall out the back. My son would follow behind picking up all of the eggs that fell out. We were laughing so hard at the kids. At the end of the hunt, my son had all of the eggs... and my niece had none. Hilarious! Ok... maybe not quite as funny typed in written word as it was to actually have been there... but, this memory always brings a smile to my face. And, the kids always get a kick out of hearing "their" story.

PS: looooooooooooooooove cadbury's!

Last year they were selling European-style Easter eggs in Wegmans. We are lucky that we have a British store not far from here, that gets Easter eggs in and Christmas stockings. http://www.thebritishpantry.us/

They aren't cheap, but they may be able to do mail order for you.

There are a few British chocolate outlets near us, a small shop in the Mall and some of the British aisles in the supermarkets are pretty good. I have not had trouble getting them here but, like I said, you pay through the nose for them.

Have you thought about making your own? I have seen the Easter egg moulds in some of the fancier kitchen supply shops. I used to make them for my kids - they had so many more that way and they look beautiful if you wrap them in coloured cellophane and a big ribbon.

Here, you see Easter bunnies and smaller eggs everywhere - but you really have to look for the larger eggs.

Good luck!

Jolly Grub

Here is a link to an on-line store where you can get British Easter Eggs.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

I know in Canada we have all sorts of Easter eggs and bunnies, maybe here in the US they just haven't put them out yet...

Where are you guys shopping? They've had Easter stuff out since about maybe a week or so before Valentine's Day and at World Market, the first week of February.

And as far as doing the Easter thing, I found it the other way...my Brit husband and family never did anything about Easter, including eating ginormous chocolate eggs. He's kinda surprised that my mother will be having us over to paint eggs and the whole Easter dinner shebang...

Easter (not the religious dealie) is a big thing as far as I can tell...frankly I'm surprised someone hasn't complained that it's just another Hallmark holiday...:lol::lol:

I haven't looked for Easter stuff so it could be out there.....I don't think hubby's family really celebrates Easter, and hopefully we will be in Canada for Easter anyways

Noooo the big eggs are huge fook off eggs that will knock you over. Well, not quite, but on average they're about 6-8 inches tall with stuff inside. For anyone in New England, Shaws usually stock a big egg of one kind. I've seen galaxy, mars and bounty over the past years. If you're that desperate I'm sure you can get someone in the UK to post you one??

Here's one...it is hard to tell the size, but the ones I have seen are always packed this way, on end with the plastic wrap in various colors and it always has a toy inside. I have looked for them as well, and have been told that they break in shipping. We would have a goldmine if we could figure out how to make them.
