Hello good friends, I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for insight. I am a US citizen and got married in August to a fine lady from Beijing. She has been in the US for 8 years. 3 years for college and 5 years under a work visa (currently employed under that work visa). We are looking to complete the process to get a green card based on marriage. It looks like we fill out the I-485 and I-130 forms. They make this quite confusing. If you can help clarify the process for us, that would be greatly appreciated. I know we would like to get approval for her to work at another company due to the distance she has to drive now that we are married. Is there a form we fill out to allow her to stay in the states while the paperwork is being filed and look for other employment? Am I missing something with the two forms noted 485 and 130?

Most comments I find are related to when the foreign party is not in the country. Since we are both here in the States, I'm interested in that process. Any thoughts of how easy or difficult this will be is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Justin

Congrats! Here is the VJ guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

There are a lot more forms in addition to the I-130 and I-485, but they are the main ones. Take a good study, over the next few days, and come back with any questions. Good luck!

AOS for my husband
