If anybody has any information on this or was interviewed today or yesterday please update this thread regarding the security of going to the embassy. As much as we'd love to do our interview, it ain't that important.

You will have to keep watch Jakarta Embassy news via its link,

http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/us-service/notices-to-americans.html

Also, you call the 24 hour hotline, 62-21-3435-9000 for up-to-date news.

These demonstrators in Indonesia usually need to notify the Indonesian Police Department in order to march and the local police will notify the Embassy prior hand.

One thing is for shure, if we even go today we wot be showing up early. As close to exactly on time seems a better idea. The sooner they let us in the gates the better.

Good luck in the interview and stay safe !!!!

The last info we heard is that the protestors are planning for Surabaya Consulate at Ciputraland today. This week they will do it again the day after Jakarta's gubernatorial election soon after their Friday prayer.

I was trapped about 30 minutes around that protest but thank God I walked out safe. I was going to pick up my visa/passport, as it printed on my card slip Sept 17 but I have no idea that they will had it on afternoon time.

I check US embassy website from the link by Dandk it says they had demonstration on Medan consulate sept 18 so I called and went again on the next day. Everything seemed fine and safe, finally I got my visa.

Hope this slight information could help you have peace at mind. And good luck for your interview!

Thanks everyone for your updates and information on this. I apologize for not keeping up with this thread but I was concerned that some protester would read about us and be waiting for us to make an example or something since it was me, my wife and our 1 year old baby together. Wasn't worth the risk all be it far fetched.

Anyway for the update I made an entire post out of it. It's really an incredible story that I wouldn't believe it it didn't happen to me. It's posted here at VJ, here's the link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/390276-visa-approved-pickup-in-3-days-but-next-day-changed-to-administrative-process-wait-2-weeks-to-6-months/
