Hello! First off, I want to voice how thankful I am that these forums exist; I often referenced them before I made any decisions concerning my boyfriend's stay here in the US.

He is Canadian and recently stayed for his allotted 180 days (more like 178 days.) He arrived back in Canada today, the 16th. When is the soonest he is able to return?

Thanks in advance for your help!

What is your main plan? To have him visit or to have him come to the US to marry you?

If it is to visit, then he'll obviously want to increase his ties. After spending 180 days in the US I assume he doesn't have very many ties to Canada correct?

Typically, after 180 days in the US, the CPB likes to see that much time spent in Canada.

You sound young, how old are you two?

If the fiance visa is your way to go, the follow the guides

Good luck

Yes, you are correct that he doesn't have very many ties to Canada anymore. However, he is planning on re-establishing himself for the duration of his time in Canada e.g. getting a job and renting a place.

I'm 25, and he is 27.

After he had come to visit the first time, we wanted to marry. Eventually, I had balked because I wanted to be more financially stable and more sure of our relationship. I still want to marry him, but realize the next 6 months may be difficult and that it's possible for changes to come on either side. I do miss him dearly, though.

That being said, I guess I've come to the conclusion that it is best to wait out the 6 months instead of looking further into the fiance visa.

Nothing says you can't go visit him.

I do plan on visiting him. It is quite expensive flying from Portland, OR to Buffalo, NY and - due to school and work - it will be difficult to stay for an extended period. Unfortunately, visiting will not be something I can often do.
