Just been wondering,

Me and my husband recently had a beautiful, traditional wedding. We had 60 guests (all from my husbands side) and were streaming life ceremony to my parents. We had it all a religious ceremony 12 people wedding party and a lovely, fun reception with DJ,sit down meal and photographer. We wanted a wedding for ourselfs to have a special day and memory for the rest of our lives. As now we are filling our documents for green card I am wondering will pictures from our beautiful wedding and some documents from booking vendors will help to prove the bon a fide marriage? What value do wedding have to an immigration officer. I am not talking about cheesy pictures of bride and groom but the professional pictures of ceremony, guests, church, wedding party.I dont think you would be able to make something like this up and making 10 guys renting tax for the sake of fake wedding. What do you think?

P.S Of course we will have other documents to present.

Anyone can plan a wedding. Doesn't even mean it was legal (although I am sure yours was). You could include a few pictures, but it isn't the ceremony they are focusing on but how your lives are intermingled financially.

As silly as it is I dont see how anyone can plan a wedding.Weddings average cost 25 000$ and involves a lot of people and a lot of hard work. After having a wedding I dont see how you can pull something like this off without it being legitimate.

You are welcome to include wedding pictures to supplement your application. But sending in a wedding album and expecting to be approved just because you had a nice wedding isn't going to work.

Acceptable evidence as outlined by the guides includes:

1.Documentation showing joint ownership or property; or

2.A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence; or

3.Documentation showing co-mingling of financialresources; or

4.Birth certificate(s) of child(ren) born to you, thepetitioner, and your spouse together; or

5.Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties havingpersonal knowledge of the bona fides of the maritalrelationship (Each affidavit must contain the full nameand address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner ofbeneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or herknowledge of your marriage); or

6.Any other relevant documentation to establish that thereis an ongoing marital union

Oh I did not mean to just go by wedding pictures. We are going to have all the financial documents which includes bank statements ,insurances and etc. As well as record of many trips we took together including Hawaii trip. But we have a big age gape which I know is a red flag.I just want to make sure we have the best chances of going through this process without any problems and delays.

Well you don't have the country where beneficiary will interview in. Many of the evidence we present is very country specific. UK and Canada will not have to present as much as like my me and my husband in Nigeria.

But for most presenting pictures not of you two but with friends and family that is very key. Face time is the best thing that can ease the age gap. I have a big age gap I am older (woman USC) I spent 6 1/2 months with my husband.

Best change is demonstrating that you are comingling your lives and not just showing your wedding day. That's one day out of your lives, a marriage is more than that. If the bills have been paid with your joint bank account or have both your names on, then it's fine to inclide that. Trips together with both your names on.

To be honest, a joint savings account with 25000 on shows more than a wedding that costs 25000 because USCIS is looking for access to each other's lives, trusting each other - the values of a marriage rather than the wedding itself. But bring pictures and everything for your interview of course - it supports your bona fide marriage.

If you have been added to insurance, health insurance etc., then that demonstrates comingling of your lives. All this evidence is usually brought with you to the interview - AmyKathleen already mentioned what may be thought of as evidence.

A lease with both your names on when you've been living together for that long is also good. Pictures are fine however pictures alone won't do the trick.

When I was telling a coworker (who's from another country) that I was filing AOS for my husband, his face lit up. He began to tell me that I could rent a dress, and how to get someone to take our pictures, and how to get people to be in the pictures with us, etc. I told him, "no, no, we got married in Reno already." And he said "no, you do the pictures for the AOS."

Needless to say, I didn't listen to him. But I'm pretty sure people DO fake weddings. :)

Oh i am sure you can fake a wedding or something small people pose for.But if you have a pictures of many guests in church ,12 people of wedding party dressed in tuxidos and bridesmaids in same gowns etc.

I guess after having gone through wedding planing and stress I have no idea how you can fake a big, nice wedding for the pictures.

Ive been married for a month and I guess for me and my husband our wedding was our biggest accomplishment as it was stunning and special. But I guess it is nto a big deal after all.

I'm sure your wedding was a once in a lifetime experience for you! I hope it was everything you wished for!!!

I think as long as you have enough evidence, you should be fine, but the wedding itself is not enough proof.

Anybody can have a wedding, big or small you can pull it off somehow!

Have enough other evidence!

As long as its real and the paperwork is right, you shouldn't worry ( to much ;))

Only been married a month yet you have a longer history(paper trail wise) than some couples. All the above mentioned speaks for itself. You can bring whatever you'd like for the interview if you feel more confident about it. As long as you bring the items asked for, and as long as you submit the documents in the AOS filing asked for.
