Hi All,

I received i979C yesterday, could anyone please enlight me about this notification?

First top left column says "NOTICE TYPE: Fee Waiver Approved", does it mean my fee waiver has been approved?

And on the "PAYMENT INFORMAYION, Total Balance Due is $0.00"

Please advise, I appreciated it very much.

rgds,

Kenny

AoS i485, Thx no-where-men

I-485 is impossible to get a fee waiver unless you are filing through VAWA or as an asylee. If you don't tell people what you are applying for they can't help you very much.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Ahh, okay. Then I can tell you it is possible that they accepted your fee waiver, but I don't know what that waiver would look like. The I-797 is just the form # of the notices they send to you about updates on the case. They are also called Notice of Action, or NOA.

Harpa Timsah,

thx again for the info, my i979C is NOA 1, would I also get NOA 2 later?

Anyone, pls help with my NOA 1:

First top left column says "NOTICE TYPE: Fee Waiver Approved", does it mean my fee waiver has been approved?

And on the "PAYMENT INFORMATION, Total Balance Due is $0.00"

Thx

Kenny

zero balance due just means that you don't owe USCIS anything, and your balance is zero dollars.

You waived the fee. That has nothing to do with getting your AOS approved**, it just means that they will be processing it and when time comes, a decision will be made. Then you'll receive more info or instructions on what to do.

It's i797 by the way.

**Well, some people can't waive the fee of the AOS depending on what you're adjusting from, and in that case, the case would most likely be rejected.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

The above copy-paste is my original posting. I understand that form I-979C, Notice of Action (I've the copy with me, not I-797, but I-797C with "C") or NOA1 is just a notice from USCIS side. It doesn't mean that my AoS has been approved. My question is about my fee waiver, does it mean I got the fee waived for that specific application?

Many Thx Guys :D :D :D

It sounds like it but fee waiver is uncommon and I don't think many people (or possibly any) on this board have seen an approved fee waiver in person. If you're able to scan it or take a picture of it (and remove identifying info of course) someone might be able to tell you with more certainty. Otherwise I would call USCIS and ask.
