The sponsor is always your petitioner(fiance/husband). A co sponsor may be anyone who has a greencard or is a US citizen when the primary sponsor's income isn't above poverty guidelines. If anyone is willing to be a cosponsor, go ahead and ask them however it can be a sensitive subject for some.

Family or friends may want to help but they need to understand what being a sponsor means to them, to you and to the US government. Well, the i-134 doesn't really mean that much in the long run(it's less of a commitment), it's "worse" with the i864.

Any US citizen or green card holder can be a sponsor. You can also use assets. The assets are considered at a 3:1 ratio (asset value : income amount)
